Hey, I thought the theme of highly mobile attacker applied to both Sawbutcher and Gunslinger when I fired up Embers for the first time, because that was exactly what they were. The description definitely still applies to Gunslinger, but Sawbutcher now is pretty much a saw-flavored berserker, with damage mitigation instead of situational godmode.
I'm not disputing that Sawbutcher had to change, but I call em' like I see em'. The class didn't have the power of its "mobility attacker" kit brought in line - the class lost its mobility theme entirely. If that isn't a reflexive, hasty change to protect play-balance from an admittedly far worse situation, then we all need to remove the term "knee-jerk" from our personal lexicons, because it cannot fairly be applied to anything.
And if you're really saying the class wasn't intended to have mobility-while-attacking as a theme, er...
Anyway, I'll let it drop. I've made any points I might have made, I think, and I'll just be stinking up these forums carrying on about it.

In my mind, Saw wheels is about as much of a theme for the class as, say, Rush is without taking Steamroller. It lets you get into, or out of trouble, without too much investment, but does get better with more. Unlike Rush, there's no Steamroller equivalent. Arguably, the old version of Saw wheels kind of was its Steamroller equivalent, and the fact that you could have something that was even vaguely prodigy-like online at, like, level 12 may be a good way to keep it in perspective.
That's an idea, actually. How hard would it be to make taking Steamroller revert Saw wheels back to (something like) its previous behavior? The changes to Tempest of Metal mean it might not be completely OP just to revert to the old numbers and damage, but who knows.
