I'm pretty sure this can happen on tier 1 zones as well. Plus, escorts can spawn next to the Naga lady boss once you get teleported to the West at the end of a Celestial start.

I don't know how it's coded, but I do know that if you get to get escorts on levels 2 and 3 of Trollmire, it will show as

Random escort on tier1.1 1
Random escort on tier1.1 2

in the log. Guess there must be a +1 increment for tier 1 zones somewhere in the code.

Escorts do spawn on norgos:3 and trollmire:3 unless it was fixed recently. I'm pretty sure I just got one in trollmire:3 so probably not fixed.

I guess someone decided it'd be weird to have your first escort just at character creation, and that's why the 1-2 range was tweaked to actually mean 2-3. So at worst it amounts to a display bug in the log. Probably not worth fixing, unless you're a purist.

Did a bit of testing. Fun fact: escorts never spawn in the Rhaloren camp. Tier 1.1 is any (other than Rhaloren camp and special stating zones) tier 1 zone you visit first (usually your starting zone unless undead, archmage, dwarf, etc.), tier 1.2 is the one you visit second. Which may suck hard if you're a Celestial with an Eastean start. It probably would be a good idea to make 1.1 the zone you visit second, and 1.2 the zone you visit third.

Oh, I hadn't noticed that it bumped the escorts appear for the first zone.
It really doesn't bother me if I lose a few.

I can confirm that Shax, Prox, and Norgos love killing my escorts. To the point of ignoring me to do so.

I've had a few escorts spawn next to wyrms and drakes. What's the point of that? Only one build can possibly save that. Stupid.

at least you didn't spawn with an entire mob in between

seriously, the surface areas shod not allow an enemy to spawn within 5 tiles radius.
i get underground ones, you open the door and "surprise mo***r f***!".
but surface?

maybe there should be a "stay behind me" command, which tells them to position themselves in a way that would keep you in between them and the enemy? obviously, wouldn't work if there was no enemy in sight.
