Making YouTube videos about ToME

#1 Post by Devousa »

Hello,

I have a question regarding making YouTube videos about ToME 4. I recently tried to upload a video about the Norgos's Lair part but as soon as I had uploaded the video, I got a notice that the video includes third party content in form of a song. I was totally unaware of this so I took the video away and thought that I would ask here for guidance on what to do. Is it allowed to use ToME's gameplay and audio material in videos because many people have done so already? I don't want a copyright strike to my channel which would cause me to lose my reputation so I'm trying to clarify it all. :/ My channel is very new and I don't know all these things yet so I would be really grateful if someone could reply to this.

The music in tome is from a group called Celestial Aeon Project. The music from it is freely available, by my understanding. (you can find it on Jamendo)

Not sure what could've tripped youtube's content warnings, someone wiser then I will have to answer that. I've pinged DarkGod about this, you should have an answer shortly.

I've got several YouTube videos on ToME (and other games) and I've obtained notices before; usually just in regards to audio. Darkgod can likely quickly help you if your video is still uploaded on your channel. If you deleted it then you may have to re-upload it again and run the new video by Darkgod so he can get it cleared for you.

Thank you for swift replies. :) I actually deleted the video from YouTube because I wasn't sure what to do with the copyright notice. I'm re-uploading it now if it helps in resolving where the notification might have come from. I will update the link to this post with details as soon as it's done.

Heya

Yes some of the musics are wrongly identified, as explained by the author himself there: http://www.mattipaalanen.com/adrev.html
Tell me the channel and I'll have it sorted out (you can also IIRC dipute the claim and mention Tales of Maj'Eyal it should work too)

Thank you for your reply, the video has now been uploaded as unlisted here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gi9CFuu ... e=youtu.be

According to the copyright notice, the specific recording is from 6:44 to 7:36 called Woods of Eremae. The claimant is also AdRev as was mentioned by the author and the notice basically says that the audio has been "monetized by claimant" (the composer). I'm not personally monetizing my videos at the moment but I would rather have a channel as "copyright notice free" as possible. Thank you for your assistance!

P.S- It's a pleasant surprise to learn that the composer of ToME's music is Finnish as well. n_n Too bad it came up in perhaps a bit uncomfortable situation.
