The simple hidden option in 1.3 that doubled my enjoyment

#1 Post by ooli »

The auto-accept target option !!

You cut more than HALF your mindless clicking. I like seing my pale blue target-ray/cone/arrow like anyone, but after 1000 foes targeted and killed, it get on you.

Just try it for yourself, it's liberating.

Game option > Gameplay > autot-accept target option set in "enabled". .. profit

I'll add that anyone who like this feature should also check out this addon I made: http://te4.org/games/addons/tome/autotarget-toggle

It's almost certain you won't always want this feature enabled, and worse there are some skills it won't play nice with. The addon will let you toggle the setting with a keybind, making it actually a potentially useful feature.
<astralInferno> poor stunt
<astralInferno> you suffer so that others may suffer in the intended way

Your addon is the reason why I found that feature. So thanks for that.

But overall I almost never switch autotarget off. With the selection being on the last foe you moused-over, it's manageable. I suppose the problem is more when you have <10 range skills that can be targeted above 10 range. In this case autotarget will waste your turn and put valuable skill/spell on CD.

Before the autotarget I never used Rush or Shoot because of the lot of range issue: Most of the time with autocast the range is too short, so you cancel a lot of targeting. And when you're in close range Rush need to be canceled (one more click).
With auto target, Rush just happen if it can. If it cant you wont notice. And with Shoot, if you're too far, you just wasted one arrow with no real interruption which is very convenient.

How/where do you get that gorgeous UI you have in the background? I bought the full package on steam but don't see an option for anything like that.

Isn't it just the standard metal interface?
My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.

I mean like for the nice resource bars in the upper left. I have no idea how to get those or change mine to look like that.

Mine looks like that, and I don't recall doing anything.

Hm, I downloaded the game off the TOME site from my browser initially. Now I have it on Steam with all the packages. I want to switch mine to that style, looks like some DLC or something

Do you have the UI set to Classic mode? Minimalist is the one with the floating resource bars.

Except I very, very, VERY often click on a skill and realize that the enemy is out of range (sometimes I do it just to check the range if my finger is on the hotkey already, because it is faster than counting squares or moving to the mouse).
Autocast and autotarget should have an optional "only when target is in range" qualifier.
