This once happened to me in alt Daikara. If you'll notice, the minimap is completely red. Four boulder throwers. But it all worked out.

Surprisingly enough, I was able to clear out Harkon-Zun before the escort got bored enough to run in. Maybe she got an interesting email or found a nice cat video to watch.
