This keeps happening to me quite often and makes game sligtly unbalanced - i spot monster, i move, i die instantly. Is there any way how to prevent this? Here is log of example...

How to prevent this?

Re: How to prevent this?
What difficulty do you have it on to get 200 damage at level 5?
My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.

The most frequent mistake of a beginner is to go into the higher tier dungeons too early. Basically, if you enter a dungeon and the log says "You feel terribly threatened upon entering this area", just get out immediately, and look for an easier dungeon. Don't just follow the quest log, since that skips some easy dungeons.

That was my first instinct, too, but if you look closely at the log synek is having this problem in the second floor of Norgos.Majestix wrote:The most frequent mistake of a beginner is to go into the higher tier dungeons too early. I often permadie on dungeons that say I yawn upon entering them...
...like the beginner dungeons before even entering Derth. Uniques hit real hard, as do guys like 20 levels above me because I insist upon opening the doors that say they are sealed but I can open them and sometimes the enemies inside are way above me. I was taking hits last night that were many hundreds each, maybe 400-500? Last night on normal mode I would be lucky if I could get one hit in on this unique rogue in that dungeon before I almost would get killed in a couple hits, and I had various shields on. Took me like an hour to kill him. Managed to get into a wall as a xorn to heal many times, almost dead each time. I was lev 12 with like 2100 hp and multiple healing and shielding abilities and some extra damage talents on weapons. The enemy was like lev 9 I think, maybe 10? But he was unique. I had some other encounters like this also. I upped my xp gain and gave myself a few things or else I would totally be dead as usual. Still it was super hard.

Exactly...I would say that there is something fishy in generating uniques, last time i have died to unique snake in Far portal - no option to leave for another location. This was after cleaning room full of multi hued wyrms without ANY trouble. But this snake just disabled me in first turn by like 10000 disables and kill by mind attack for 1300 dmg in second...xnd wrote:I often permadie on dungeons that say I yawn upon entering them...
IMHO. I dont care about dangerous monsters if they are at least little bit predictable, uniques are not
