coldbringer - "That's a good warning for the rest of us as to what can happen, and to be prepared"
as i said earlier...
If i was attacked by an overpowered multihued wyrm (or 2), i would be annoyed for a minute about it, then forget.
If i was attacked by 5 rares with abilities that counter me and a random boss on top of that, its still nothing that can't happen.
If i was attacked by a few bloated horrors and immediately jumped and surrounded by ghouls, I wouldn't bother writing about it.

all of those things can happen on their own, they can also happen all at once. RNG is random.
that is a danger i could expect from a vault.

but give me one other example, of something like in this vault happening.
where have you seen walls permanently blocking the way out, AND exposing you to all the potentiall above.

seriously, what angers me now is not the vault itself, but the people saying i am supposed to be expecting THIS.
and if you are also going to say that the mass confusion was also RNG and could be so easy to deal with another time...
so are the master archers behind the lava?

coldbrinker, you atleast could run. situation like yours is NOT like my.
velorien, everyone eventually learns to stay behind the corners and back off. you were careless, i knew exactly what i was doing.
i KNEW i was going to move back. except that something, that i didn't know was possible happened.
you were careless, i had no way to expect wall to move like that.

Indiana Jones? Megaman also. Kirby games, too. I believe there are also plenty of horror games where this "escape is blocked" thing happens. Within Tome the graveyard comes to mind (similar trick)
coldbrinker, you atleast could run. situation like yours is NOT like my.
With the right preparation (infusions, teleportrune, torque of psychoportation,..) you could have very well escaped, too, couldn't you?
you were careless, i had no way to expect wall to move like that.
You can expect the worst and prepare for it. As I already said, going to dreadfell without a teleportation rune is not a wise move imho. And yeah, then there are cases where you just have to make the best of an unexpected situation. Turned out you might have been underprepared in terms of escape-tools and perhaps in terms of saves (mental saves for confusion I believe, also infusions). Learning that you need more escape tools and that confusion is dangerous are fair lessons to learn in dreadfell. I'm not quite sure what you complain about. It is generally not impossible to survive this kind of vault, neither are you forced to go into it. Other people do survive these vaults and some just don't go there.

Everyone here agree's that it can be tough but It's not like an invincible monster with 500% global speed instantly appeared in front of you and hit you for 2.000.000 damage.
Maybe just accept it and beat the crap out of the undead next time :)

i was no going to reply anymore, but here i am.

when i wrote started this topic, i was thinking "wow, THIS, is a winner."

i was expecting people to go with things like either agreeing or "if you think this is the worst that can happen then let me tell you..."

instead everyone was like
"well, bad things happen, its roguelike" (archliches story, and the archers)
or
"NO, you don't put fingers to the electric appliance!!" (everyone saying dreadfall and vaults is dangerous)

I am not playing this for the first time, i was playing this game for a few months now. I know bad things happen. i know vaults are difficult.
I am not saying anything like "its totally a bug" or "pls remove", i am saying this situation takes the cake, because in my opinion it does.
I called it BS, but ITS ROGUELIKE, AND HERE EVERYTHING IS BS! because it is designed to be. But accepting that a situation like this happens, does not make it any less bs, because even even if you prepare, it still happens! or not, some other bs happens somewhere else,
but so far, NOONE has written a more bs situation, so what i wrote at the beginning, is still valid. it is still on the top, until someone provides something "better".

if you didnt pick it up, if you think i need comforting go F*** yourself. i want something bigger than my story.

I think you do need some understanding in your life, pal. There's no need to be this rude to strangers.

You might have gotten that if you'd asked for it. Lots of people, including lots of new people, like to post when they're struggling. Lots of people like to just post single, self-contained stories. Yours could have been both, with no real incentive for people to start comparing unrelated stories (and if they took you to be a newbie asking for advice, why would they? It'd be rude and off topic). Cussing people out for not answering the question you didn't ask isn't going to get you great results.

well, I didn't asked... it didn't happen "oh well", and i move on, nearly forgetting that it was even there.
As i said, i did not expect that to happen, so first people that were there were absolutely fine.

but then, 10 days later, someone got the idea, that i still need some help.

I shouldn't be angry about what coldbringer or valorien said, but Groggeneral on the other hand...

If you don't know how do disarm a bomb, don't try. it will explode in your face.
If you are unsure as to what another person is thinking, wait for someone who knows better.

"you simply fell for it because you were greedy for loot and ignored all of the many warning signals"
He simply felt it necessary for him to poke it for satisfaction and ignored all of the many signals"

"Cussing people out for not answering the question you didn't ask isn't going to get you great results"
right after his first "visit" in this topic, i said what i knew about traps, and that my character was neither week or fragile.
i also said that i already accepted the existence of this vault, and that i would be more aware next time.

then cold bringer and valorien came, and what was my response? there are WAY worse things that could happen than what they said.
but to him that wasn't a hit to at least "maybe let him cool down", no... he immediately wrote another post... and then i exploded

"with no real incentive for people to start comparing unrelated stories". look at the title...
and as i said, if nothing happen, then nothing happens. BUT SOMETHING DID HAPPEN!! groggeneral happen, making it seem like he is making fun of me.

"There's no need to be this rude to strangers."
oh, i am sure a common bully would agree with you, "just let him do the thing".
YES THERE IS A NEED! i had to write that line shut him up, because when i "tried" to not explode, he did not understand.

Oh well. I'm sorry to hear that that's how you feel.
If you were more interested in stories on how things got worse, I would have gladly provided some of my own . If you would be so kind to communicate your needs more clearly in the future, i'm sure you'll get the responses you seek. Just like twas Brillig says, it was not clear what you actually asked for. Most people post their stories and look for explanations on what to do better and your aggressive and angry opening post suggested something similar to me (and others, apparently). I simply assumed that you would cherish some sympathy and information on how to deal with those snarky deathtraps. That's all.
There's really no need to explode and get upset like this.. There's no bad intention on my side whatsoever so just relax

Best wishes!

The vault that got the OP sounds to me like a real text book "death trap" in a dungeon.

You know the kind if you have table topped: You go into it, accidentally trip the pressure plate that seals the exits and then bam the walls or celing start closing in.

Or you go into a room and there's a treasure chest, but it's not a room you just went in. It's 4 wall mimics, a ceiling mimic, a floor mimic, and a treasure chest mimic working in tandem to ruin your party's day because "The DM is evil."

Really horrible if it happens to you and gets you, but if you manage to survive through it you feel like an absolute boss.

Sometimes you just need release a few expletives and roll up another character. Such is the roguelike experience... tabletops too occassionally.
