The "chance to grab"-enemies might seem good at first, against ranged/spellcasting enemies, but against melee enemies it might turn a situation where you've got them bottled up in a corridor, one able to hit you at once, into a situation where you're suddenly surrounded on both sides and unable to retreat.
It seriously needs something done about it.

Only the mindstar attempts to grab. Use a 2h and enjoy ridiculous damage numbers, or a gem if you need bonus stats.

Solution sounds simple, it should only grab at range >=2 then

[tome] joylove: You can't just release an expansion like one would release a Kraken XD

Yeah, I don't see why somebody who wants to be in melee wouldn't just use a normal TK weapon.themuffinthief wrote:Only the mindstar attempts to grab. Use a 2h and enjoy ridiculous damage numbers, or a gem if you need bonus stats.

I don't know why you would want an ability that pulls enemies towards you, where there are no creatures that walk away from you... The only thing this does (beyond sacrificing another weapon slot, which is huge btw) is get you into more trouble and gives you less control over the field if anything.
Mindstars in TK slots are bad, as are gems, in comparison to the superior alternative of the weapon.

tell that to someone using tri-stars that kills The Master in 2 turns in melee
and there are plenty of enemies that walk away from you, - Filio or any archer enemy

I'm probably not a pro like you, but I have to agree that a telekinetically held weapon is at least equally effective. I enjoyed 3k bump attacks on my higher mindslayer, and I defeated atamathon without ever going 100 below maximum health. Can I ask what version you're playing? Cause I remember that telekinetically wielded mindstars some versions ago could do some insane mindlashes...

I didn't really want to reply to this further, but just to put the nail in the coffin.
I was the first to complete NM on mindslayer after the rework was made, the only changes since then have been to the Augmented Striking Tree, which I still think are "meh", but that's for another thread (and a bit of a nerf to the shields' ability to absorb damage).
Here are some points for your consideration:
1. Frenzied Focus for example is miles better if you have a weapon in the TK slot as you can hit 4 enemies at up to range 4, effectively being superior to whatever the mindstar could do.
2. Beyond the Flesh allows you to apply willpower/cunning (can't remember which exactly), to the TK wielded weapon, effectively treating it as a mindstar, which means you don't really need to divert stats to gain further benefits.
3. Did I mention that you can wield a 2h weapon in this slot; can you honestly say a single mindstar is better than a 2h weapon?
4. I don't think your ability to kill the Master in 2 hits is really relevant, as a 2h wielded weapon could probably do it faster. Furthermore as you played on Normal (I think, couldn't find your character in the vault), that it would be irrelevant if you killed him in 1.5 hits or 2. However on higher difficulties that would make a significant difference, hence me even bothering to reply.

I thought the nerf was deliberate, to discourage the use of mindstars in the TK slot. It used to be that you could obviate choosing between caster and melee mindslayers by going tristar, since that was the best option for both.
