Assassin Lord Bug?

I was playing a sun paladin, and doing the assassin lord quest. However, when I got to the assassin lord level, he and all of his minions swamped me! I didn't start the dialogue with him, I just stepped on the level and the shadowblades called me to battle or something. Even the merchant was hostile! Luckily, I had a phase door rune, but that could have easily become a stupid death. Has this happened to anyone else? Btw, I killed Aeryn if that has to do with anything

There's a bug where characters that are in the "Gates of Morning" faction are enemies with the Assassin Lord.

It doesn't really affect much, since only Rouges/Shadowblades would want to join him.

Yeah, I'm only concerned because I was playing on roguelike, and without my amazing skills , I would've died. Usually I have time to prepare for him so it was kind of a rude awakening.
