In your account on te4.org you'll find a Steam tab, which lets you link your profile & steam account.
If you do, when/if you get the game on Steam the game will be able to autolog you into your te4 profile.

No steam key = Why should I bother linking my Steam profile to my ToME account. If I cant play this on steam why should I care? I'd much rather use Steam for everything I possibly can instead of having all these fragmented individual clients and binaries.

Well, I just answered my own question. Have waited for it since Darkgod mentioned it, and bought me the Steam Edition of ToME.

I recall Darkgod implying that donators would receive a steam key for ToME4.
I don't know how that'll hold up, though.
