So the best mindslayer I have ever made was a Ghoul two hander mindslayer I got him to level 30 with a few deaths I maxed willpower then strength "the idea was im going to have super strength, and my ghoul leap will substitute for augment mobility " the only way I could survive that long was because I had a ring of misery 200% damage attack combined with my telekinetic smash and frenzy. all auras I just left on because spiking them does practically nothing without a mindstar.
Mindslayers have only 2 activated damage abilities that are not mindstar based so why start with two handers?
Augment mobility is a waste of a category point if it wasn't needed.
Mindhook: starts off terrible, and when you level it up still quite bad. If you use it you are probably aiming it at a mage or archer who will just teleport or walk off, it doesn't even pin or, do any damage and has a high cooldown. practically useless..
Quick as though: yay time to run away -_-, it would be better if it increased attack speed too
Telekinetic leap: this one is good ^^
Shattering charge: huge psi cost bad damage might be ok at level 5
They are practically based on mindstars they have three ability trees saying use mindstars!
mindlash now has this huge cost for using this more than once
augmentation is one of the only abilities that's like hey non mindstar weapons might be ok
so again why start off with two twohanders
problems with mindstars: all mindstar abilities have large psi cost and are ranged abilities
the only way to gain psi is to get hit with your shields on or be in 1-2 squares away from some opponents
all auras and shields cost a good hunk of psi so that leaves you with crap psi.
There is no win with this class, I love the concept but it doesn't work

Use a mindstar (or gem) in your TK slot, and a twohander, dual weapons, or mindstars in your hands. They can be very effective hybrid characters.

The last win with a Mindslayer was 10 hours ago, as of this post, glancing at the vaults.
Mindslayers aren't a melee dedicated class. They use a combination of melee and ranged combat. The melee end is better early in the game, and the ranged end is better later.
You pretty much have to go with that build, or else they're reasonably hard to win with. Check out the vaults, and see what winning Mindslayers did.

3 mindstars + 2 auras on conduit + 1 aura active = 800 dmg / round in melee to The Master easily.
Caught a stupid death not long after that on that particular mindslayer, but its an example of what mindstars can do for you even though only 3 talents "tell" you to use mindstars.
Alternatively you could go sword & board and focus more on the Absorption talents if you want to go defensive and never die. They're far from broken, but are sometimes kind of boring.

I have looked as far in the vaults as it would let me...
Every class above level 30 "I didn't check any below except a few high level 20's" I came to this conclusion
you MUST have mindstars / mindstar mastery. there was not a single 2her besides my level 20's in which case I always had a disarm from a lore master or a ring of misery, or in my shalorens case rush boots.

Yes..? I understand mindstar mindslayer works, I posted this because 2h mindslayer does NOT work because of the lack of talents you get 2 abilities that work with it, you get about 8 abilities that pretty much force you to have mindstars if you want to get anywhere. Why cant mind hook deal damage,or stun, or pin
Mindslayers only detrimental effects other than burn are in the voracity generic category and are very unreliable and are mainly used for psi regen .

Slow is one of the most powerful effects in the game, theres a reason all the non-antimagic characters cry that they never get Slime on their gear.
In fact the Slow is probably the only one that I try to max, freezing is good and all but it reduces my dmg output, and pure damage well I do enough of it.
If you want to be a massive damage 2 handedd dude play a berserker or a wyrmic. If you want a mix of tricks up your sleeves, then play a mindslayer. Can they do as much pure 2h melee damage as a berserker? No. Most classes cant. Thats kind of the purpose of the berserker. Can they do GOOD 2 h damage plus have major survivability, panic buttons, and huge nukes to use every once in a while? Most definitely.

The biggest enablers for the win were getting a warrior escort for the Conditioning tree and also using the shield spikes heavily.
