Actually, there's an idea. What if you used the fire effect for Irresistible Sun, so that you literally have a massive sun above your head? And I remember Aeryn uses Irresitable Sun, so Fallen Paladin Aeryn can get a bloody sun above her head, sort of like what Crim suggested.

As a revenge for Suslik's trickery, I've made him some nice mockup ideas for future effects. Here we go:

Image
The mandatory dragon / bat / demon wings. Period.

Image
Some more rings on rings on rings... the small circles can orbit on the central one, can be 3 small ones

Image
Circling flamedrops. Suslik said "too difficult", but maybe there can be only 2 or 3 of them?

Image
A player flambé

Image
Can sprout from the ground up and disappear as a "on-casting" effect

Image
A fiery saint ... of fires

Image
Oh, look, my blades are on fire, and my ha-AAHHHH!

Image
Something for the sun worshippers out there

Image
... and for the moon guys and gals

Moon. Moon. MOON. Moooooooon.
Also, M-o-o-n, that spells moon.

(Anyone who gets both of those references is likely nerdier then I. Kudos.)

Also, the player flambe (4th image) could EASILY be adapted for aether permeation, literally surrounding the player with purple glowy aether.

The sun would also be nifty for irresistable sun, though I'm rather partial to Un's Idea of placing it above your head, like a black hole drawing things towards you. Apply that on the center, and then some radiating particles around it.

Could adapt the Halo into light for second life. Or possible guardian shield?

The serpent flame look is also quite nifty. Would be nifty to do something like that on cast for wyrmic abilities. (An icy dragon writhes up around you before you breath frost? Yes, No?)

Of course, my PC won't ever see ANY of these nice effects, sadly, but still, some great potential here.

I got the Stand reference, but not that other one.

The other one was for a moon obsessed character in one of the old .hack games.

Good use for the sun and moon graphics. Attach them to chants and humns respectively. Maybe make it fade and shimmer a bit or something, so it's not just a static moon hanging behind your character. Would love to see the moon represented in some way with hymns to the moon. Especially moonlight. Watch the moon blast my enemies to dust!

I'll take it anyway. :D

Are these being documented on the wiki somewhere?

I don't think so. But DG uses most of them in 1.0.5
Of course you're welcome to use any of these as well

my god these are amazing. DG had BETTER be using them in 1.0.5 like you hinted to. Some of the early fire ones look a bit funky but rexocorums I really like

Unfortunately rexorcorum makes mockups. I make actual shaders and it's not always easy to make a shader from a mock-up and sometimes they turn out to be less attractive.

Thanks, Sradac, for the appreciations. Just to add that the actual shaders look waaay better in motion :) Also, Suslik - sometimes the shaders turn up superior to to mockups, don't be shy.

On a different note - I'm completely spoiled now and want firethrower-like flamebeams and realistic lightnings
