1.03 lags a bit on my ancient computer
1.01 is generally ok, not sure what could have been changed to make the new version run slower. There is a very irritating .5 second pause before the game registers a command. I checked my graphics options and they seem to be the same as I had in 1.01. Just in case, I disabled weather effects and particle density etc. and that doesn't seem to make a difference - the lag is still there. It's quite a significant drop in performance, any ideas? Not much fun to play as it is, I'll take it as a sign from God that I should go buy a new computer, but in the meantime any suggestions as to what might be causing this are appreciated.

Can you try using the exe/dll file from 1.0.1 please ?

Re: 1.03 lags a bit on my ancient computer
Sure, I'll give that a try now.
Re: 1.03 lags a bit on my ancient computer
So just copy over the exe? What do you mean about dll files? Sorry, I'm technically challenged.
Re: 1.03 lags a bit on my ancient computer
Oh nevermind, I guess you mean overwrite all the dlls aswell.
Re: 1.03 lags a bit on my ancient computer
It worked, you're a genius!
Now I can try my Shalore Shadowblade, seems Shalore would now make awesome mages too since the buff, which is only right. By the way, is there any way I can send you a fat donation without a credit card from China?

Re: 1.03 lags a bit on my ancient computer
I have had the same problem as the OP. When I updated to 1.0.3 i found that TOME was significantly more laggy and was generally running slower than 1.0.1.
However, after reading this thread and checking with DG on IRC the problem is now sorted.
I'm running linux 64 bit (on ubuntu) and simply had to copy the main "t-engine" file from my old 1.0.1 directory and paste it into the 1.0.3 directory (replacing).
Running the game from the 1.0.3 directory then gave me TOME with all the wonder of DarkGod's new changes and the great performance I was getting before on 1.0.1!!
Perfect!
If anyone else is experiencing this kind of issue with the new update you should definately try this - copy just the "t-engine" executable on linux, or the exe and dll's if on windows.....
Enjoy... and all hail our DarkGod!!

Re: 1.03 lags a bit on my ancient computer
This really does work. I've suggested it to many people who've had performance issues since the patch, and so far it's worked for everyone. I personally decided to try it when I realized my high level summoner was having a miserable time; resting took vastly longer than it should (watching my equilibrium count down maybe 100 times slower than normal) and even autoexploring was painfully sluggish. These things got somewhat better when a level was clear, so it seems like unseen but existing creatures cause performance issues.
Anyway, this seems to be a problem for many people. Thankfully it's an easy fix.

Wow! This makes a HUGE difference. 1.0.3 is very slow, but now it works beautifully.
MADNESS rocks
Re: 1.03 lags a bit on my ancient computer
I am also getting significant performance increases when going back to the old executable. This is on my old little lappy.
Re: 1.03 lags a bit on my ancient computer
Posting so I remember to do this later.

Re: 1.03 lags a bit on my ancient computer
So out of idle curiosity, what changed in the 1.0.3 executable that caused the slowdown? Since the 1.0.1 executable can apparently handle the 1.0.3 .team, it must not have been module-significant.

Re: 1.03 lags a bit on my ancient computer
I'm having the same 'problem'. Although my laptop isn't exactly ancient. Since I just started playing at 1.0.3 I don't have the 1.0.1 exe and dlls I can't try this workaround.
On the other hand it might not even be the problem. It could simply be my laptop overheating. It does seem worse when I'm in bed and not allowing it to vent properly.

You can DL them here. http://te4.org/download. It has all the old versions.Ewol wrote:I'm having the same 'problem'. Although my laptop isn't exactly ancient. Since I just started playing at 1.0.3 I don't have the 1.0.1 exe and dlls I can't try this workaround.
Re: 1.03 lags a bit on my ancient computer
anyone having these issues should check out the new 1.0.4a beta. so far as i can tell after some testing, darkgod has fixed the performance issues with this new beta build.... check out this thread http://forums.te4.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=37869
ofcourse, being a beta its not without the usual risk - however, for me the performance is better than 1.0.3 with the workaround (linux 64)
If it works for you its probably useful to post there for DG to get some beta feeback!
