Mindstars Set's?

#1 Post by Skyswimsky »

I read the (incomplete) Wikiarticle but i dont rly get anything out of it, how are the Set's with Mindstars working?
Right now i have 3 Mindstars, Hatefull pulsing MIndstar of Nightfall/of Slime, and Bloomsoul. The first 2 say they are part of a Set but dont tell me what the other Set components or whatever are.

The set combinations are:

Hateful/Wrathful
Dreamer's/Epiphanous
Summoner's/Caller's
Mitotic/other Mitotic
Wyrm's/(Flames, Frost, Sand, or Storm), you must use it to make a set, and it removes old sets.
Resonating/(Dreamer's, Epiphanous, Hateful, or Wrathful), you must use it to make a set.
Harmonious/ (Caller's, Summoner's, Mitotic, Wyrm's, or (Flames, Frost, Sand, or Storm) after being activated by a Wyrm's one)

Note that you must be holding both mindstars in the set, one in each hand, to get the benefits.

Unless of course you have them in the switch set or rotating above your head in a telekentic grasp. (just to make things really complicated)

You can wear two sets at the same time if you try hard enough ;) I am not really sure it is worth it for anything but the wyrms.

Since mindstar mastery and staff mastery are now both trainable, adventurers just got really weird. Especially since mindstar mastery now increases willpower and mindpower bonuses. It used to be the case that a good psychic 2 hander randart was the best bonus, that is now going to change to be a randart top tier gifted or such mindstar.

Things are going to get even more interesting once we get the solipists talents back into normal use, assuming they ever get balanced correctly. (I certainly want them back for my adventures in the infinite 500)

When you say it removes old sets, can you then remake a set using a different combination, but with one of the mindstars from the first set?

And regarding Harmonious, how do you know if a mindstar has been activated?

Once you awaken the drake within an elemental mindstar, that mindstar will forevermore only make sets with wyrm's mindstars. Thus, if you use a wyrm's mindstar on a caller's mindstar of flames, and you later find a summoner's mindstar, the caller's and summoner's mindstars would not form a set.

The exception is mindstars that must be activated to form sets (harmonious, resonating, and mitotic). Once you activate those mindstars' set-forming abilities, their new sets take priority. So, if you use a wyrm's mindstar on a mitotic mindstar of flames, and you later activate the mitotic mindstar, you will end up with two mitotic mindstars of flames that form sets with each other but not with the wyrm's mindstar.
And regarding Harmonious, how do you know if a mindstar has been activated?
The elemental mindstars only get activated if you explicitly do so yourself. If you've forgotten, try using the harmonious mindstar and seeing if it can harmonize with the elemental.

What exactly are the set bonuses? When I formed a set, I noted no difference on the char sheet. Am I doing something wrong or are the bonuses not something I can see on the char sheet?

The set bonuses are applied to the mindstars themselves. You'll notice if you repeatedly break and reform the set (make sure you've got psiblades off while you do so!).

The bonuses are as follows:
caller's mindstar: +tier regeneration for wild summons
summoner's mindstar: +1 max summon

wyrm's mindstar: +tier*10% stun and blindness immunity
mindstar of flames: +tier% global speed
mindstar of frost: +tier*3 armor
mindstar of sand: +tier*2 to all saves
mindstar of storms: +tier to all stats

dreamer's mindstar: +tier/10 psi regeneration
epiphanous mindstar: +tier psi on mind crit

mitotic mindstar A: +tier*10 acid blind burst on crit
mitotic mindstar B: +tier*10 slime burst on crit

wrathful mindstar: +tier*2 mindpower
hateful mindstar: +tier*2 max hate

Harmonious and resonating mindstars copy the set bonuses of the mindstars with which they harmonize/resonate. Thus, a wyrm's living mindstar + living mindstar of flames gives you +50% stun and blindness immunity and +5% global speed, a wyrm's living mindstar + harmonious living mindstar gives you complete stun and blindness immunity, and a harmonious living mindstar + living mindstar of flames gives you +10% global speed.
