How do I use the item vault?
Exactly what it says on the tin: how do I send items to my inter-character vault? I poked around Sher'tul but didn't see anything.

It's an orb in the south of the fortress, in a little hallway near the storage chamber. Oh, and obviously you have to be a donator and be connected to the server for it to work.

Hmm I don't see any orbs anywhere in the south...
My profile on te4.org says I'm a "Vorutun donator" and I am allowed to pick custom icons for my characters, so I imagine I'm a donator in the system and connected.

Check that you have the addon enabled.

For the sake of completeness:
1) You must be a donator.
2) You must launch the game and have it connect to the server before starting the new character.
3) You must have the correct version of the tome-items-vault addon installed (again, before starting the new character). The "addons" choice on the game's main menu (before creating a character) will show you whether the addon is present and is correctly versioned.
4) The items vault is a 3x3 room attached to the storage room in the Sher'Tul Fortress. The storage room is the large empty rectangular room on the south end of the map.
If you've also got the tome-stone-wardens addon (bundled with RC1 through 1.0 releases), then the best way for you to check that the donator flag is present at character creation time is to see if you can choose Stone Warden. (Select Dwarf, then select Wilder, and see if Stone Warden shows up.) If SW is there, then you've been marked as a donator, and the items vault should also work for whatever character you actually create.
If you've already created the character, then see if your name is green in the in-game chat. If it's white, then you're not being marked as a donator, for whatever reason (Darkgod will have to sort it out). If it's green, then you've been marked correctly.
If your Internet connection is flaky or slow then when you launch the game, you should let it sit at the main menu for 30 to 60 seconds, to give it plenty of time to connect to the server. There is currently no indicator of when the connection has occurred, as it happens invisibly in the background. (You can see whether Stone Warden appears on the char creation screen; if it doesn't, then you weren't connected, so EXIT the process and try again.)
