Who cares about mummy-wrappings?

#1 Post by SCO »

I mean they're a negligible armor, low bonus, rare random item that gives you -50% fire resistance guaranteed, that is probably only in a mid-level dungeon.

At least in nethack you could use them over armor and other stuff, so that wasn't too bad. I experimented with making them puttable in the 'ammo' slot, which works i guess, but it's still not actually a good idea to use one due to the -50% fire resistance.

The artifact one's pretty decent when the set's complete. I've also seen the occasional randart one that had positive fire res and were pretty solid overall.

Generally they're chest fodder, though, yeah. I'll sometimes keep more interesting purple ones around as trophies, though. Do the same thing with tridents, ayuh. Neat loot is neat. Kinda' wish there was a more interesting thing to do with trophy pieces besides artfully place/randomly strew them around your fortress...

-20% would be more reasonable, really.

They do seem to get high material level equivalent egos, I think? Just...yeah, they're light armor to start with and then they have a huge resistance penalty. -20% would make them okay niche armor for some classes. -50% tends to hurt too badly, a -50% in anything needs really, really good perks in other ways to be salvagable.
