It's so close DarkGod

#1 Post by Ragnarok »

I've been playing since the 34th beta and I say this game is amazing for me. I am amazed at the production quality you have for this game as a solo person working on this by yourself.

Which begs the question, are you going to charge for this on steam? If then would donars get a free copy or do you have to rebuy it again?

If I'm kenning it right DG, Rag's asking if current donators will be able to register T4 on their steam account without having to actually purchase through steam. Something like that.

And on that note DG, will donation still be a possibility if this goes onto steam? Cause I want you to have my $ not them cause lets face it, melkor is awesome ;)

If not, well I better donate soon.

Been playing and loving it since PernAngband!

...bring back Harpers

And whats this I saw about the next version is going to be feature complete? I thought you were going to do either possesor or symbiant yourself!

The distribution channel of downloading the game for free via te4.org does not dissappear, only a new non free distribution channel is created where people are automatically considered donators.

The only point of putting it onto steam is that the creator might be able to work on the game full tme rather than as a side project. Because of the increased exposure the game will get. People can still google tome or maj eyal and will find te4.org if they so wish, but steam has 'taught' people to pay for games which is obviuosly a good thing if you're trying to make a living.

yeah yeah I know all that, and I totally get it. Theres no reason DG shouldnt want to try and make some real money off of all of his hard work.

Hell, look at the ADOM resurrection thing TB has started, he's raised something crazy like $60,000 for adom.

But it still didnt answer my question, if it goes on steam, does the "donate" option go away and the only way then is to go through steam? Im just not 100% familiar with the legalities of how steam does stuff I dont know if they have some kind of clause or stipulation that would say the only way to collect funding would be through steam itself.

You will still be able to donate.

The steam version will be equivalent to donating.

If you have already donated, you will not be able to download the steam version without paying again (because otherwise Valve doesn't get their share of the money).

Maybe buying the steam version makes you a donator for the regular version??!?!?! That's up to DG.
