Noob where are the extra/new game modules downloaded

#1 Post by romark »

Hi Im a noob but love RPGs and rogue-like stuff, I have been playing a little bit with my new Tome game , and was wondering is there user created games to install around here? Im very new to this game excuse my dumbness but I could only find addons to change certain things NOT full games.

Yes, there certainly are wholly separate games made within the same engine. However they tend to be specific to certain beta builds. I have a number available here:

http://gruesomegames.com/
(Broken Bottle, Run from the Shadow, Harrowed, sick peter, Rogue Rage)

Some other people have done different games - BOB, phage, Bone Builder, Equal in Death.

The only game to work out of the box in B40 is Rogue Rage, which is still in alpha stage but is quite playable. You can find it here: http://www.gruesomegames.com/games/roguerage-alpha1.zip

I looked at the video on your site to RogueRage, and its very differrent to the TOME T-engine Ive just run, my game has some graphics, but your rogueRage is rogue-like. Im very supprised at how differrent they are in the same engine. I put gameplay over anygraphics!

You could technically make a board game in the engine, or a strategy game, or any sort of tile-based game. The engine has a lot of standard roguelike code that you can reuse, but you can pick and choose what you want, write (or modify) your own replacements, or ultimately you could just use it as a display library if you really wanted.

Documentation isn't great for the unfamiliar, but DarkGod and others are generally good at answering questions and providing help, especially on the IRC channel.
