[b21] minimap = blob of uselessness?

#1 Post by Danibre »

Thanks everyone for another amazing update. I like most of the changes, but the change to minimap graphic seems like huge downgrade from what we had previously. It's so fuzzy, I can't even tell the general shape of the map anymore. The fact that no one else has complained about the minimap graphic makes me question whether it's just my computer or not. I tried messing around with various graphic settings to no avail. Seriously, you guys like the new minimap graphic?

It's a bug and one that I think is localized to windows users :(

Got a screenshot to post, Danibre? I'm curious if it's the same one that myself and others have noticed since the last beta.

In b20 at least you can save and shut down the whole T-Engine and restart and the problem will go away.... until you go to the world map, where it'll crop back up again.

Also what tilesize are people using? I'm curious if it's restricted to only 64x64 users on Windows, or if others get it.

Agreed. Once the mini map is 'sharpened up' is there any way in future releases to have it scalable? I would be great to arrange the mini-map, character stats, info frame and chat windows to suit different sizes/layouts.

Perhaps an 'M' key to bring up a full screen map mouse-over information.

2 cents :)

32x32 shockbolt tiles: bugged minimap
32x32 mushroom tiles: normal minimap

For me, the mini-blob is there no matter what tiles I use. I usually use 32x32 shockbolt but have noticed the same problem with mushroom and the others as well. I also tried save/exit strategy but that doesn't seem to do much either.

Well, at least now I know it wasn't intended to be this way. I thought that Darkgod suddenly developed super eyesight or something and actually designed the minimap like this.

I use Windows, and have it set for 32x32 ASCII with Background, and I'm also having the incomprehensible minimap problem.
