Post your toughest non-unique opponent here!

#1 Post by jenx »

I've come across my toughtest opponent yet, a level 100 Snaproot boss, on level 68 of the Infinite Dungeon (I'd love to see a level 1,000,000 monster!). Took forever to kill the critter. Here are his stats:

Snaproot
Giant / Ent
Rank: Boss
Level: 100
Exp: 0/45865
HP: 10822 (96%) [so would have started at about 11272 HP]
Stats: 100 / 100 / 20 / 100 / 15 / 45
Resists: 51% acid, 25% nature, -20% fire, 50% physical, 50% cold, 71% all
Size: huge

Can anyone beat this?

Isn't he unique? In campaign mode:
Skeletob mages, skeleton archers, skeleton warriors. Orc corrupters, orc blood mages. The beserkers are no walk in the park either.

Yes, Snaproot is a unique boss. He's a dungeon guardian in the late game.

Toughest monsters I've seen are level 80-something multi-hued wyrms.

The multi-hued wyrm by far, however if grouped orc blood mages and corrupters are also quite nasty. Honorable mention to Uruivellas too.

Though stacking +50% physical on top of a +71% resist to all, with over 10k HP would make most chars eat dust.

Ok, didn't realise he/she/it was unique. I haven't got that far in the main campaign!

And yes, the resists were a pain. Most hits only did a small amount of damage, so my Cornac Summoner must have sent 100+ creatures to attack him. He has some amazing attacks as well, that seem to destroy almost everything in sight, though I never figured out what it was.

That's also unique, though a random (i.e. non-boss) one.

Toughest for me tend to consistently be high-level daelachs, followed by, of course, the Eternal Bone Giants. Headless horrors can be pretty tough to kill if they get the 'wrong' set of immunities from their eyes and I don't have a way to get to th'eyes to fix the problem. Multi-hued wyrms seem oddly weak, every time I've ran into them. Good chunk of HP, but not the dakka or the resists to back it up.

Now, most dangerous non-uniques are pretty much orc patrols as a unit, if the critter makeup is particularly bad for that character. The wrong mix of elite berserkers and corruptors, and you're just buggered if you're not terribly lucky with battlefield makeup.

The hardest battle I have fought was against a daelach at High Peak level 14, as it had 40% resist physical, 50% resist all, 100% fire resistance, and more than 5,000 health, with rush attacks that disarm, and a mobile lava pool to keep you warm :)

That battle was far harder than the two final bosses, whom I used as pin cushions for my dragonbone arrows.
