What a stupid death. I had over 3000 mana, an okay amount of hp (around 700), I had awesome gear, was cruising around at between 60 and 75 speed with nearly every combination of gear and essence of speed, I'd already killed Sauron and Morgoth, and I'd eliminated a lot of uniques, found the the rod tip of home summoning, and was considering what to do next in preparation for the void, when I got killed. I was screwing around in the bottom levels of Angband when a few chain-summoners got out a hand and suddenly a room was filled with greater undead blasting me repeatedly. I kept on healing back up, but eventually they got off enough mana bolts and nether balls to put me in undead form. I nearly reached the wall to use probability travel to get out of there (the level was to small to teleport) but they killed me one round before I stepped out of there. That was my best character ever and my only win ever. I was hoping to make it an ultimate win. Argh!
EDIT:
Just thought of how easy it would have been to stone prison myself then thunderlord recall out of there and scavenge wilderness nasties to get back to life. I'm an idiot.

Re: Ugh. YASD
Same thing happened to me.
My RohanKnight Lost Soul Sorceror was probably the luckiest character I had ever run. Morgoth went down without me taking a single scratch (combination of Void gates and a handy corner of a greater vault, with Fireflash) and I was tromping down the Void, feeling cocky and basically liquefying GWoPs without a second thought.
I get surrounded by leveled Hellblades from a treasure pit and melee'd to death. All the while, it had never occurred to me that instead of trying to Fireflash them I could have just cast Stone Prison on myself and hit them one at a time. Doubly stupid, because I had been using Stone Prison the whole time beforehand...

My best character was a Rohan Knight Sorcerer that I got to level 50 and had some pretty impressive equipment. I had cleared out Mordor and decided to try to push through to the bottom of Mt Doom so when I found the ring I would just be able to recall back down, and on the 2nd level or so, I was walking down a hall and all of the sudden, things went haywire. All I know for sure is that I was not instakilled, because Melkor summoned some baddies to help me, but something horrible happened, I panicked and started hitting the spacebar to clear messages so I could heal, and next thing I knew the game exited. I never did find out what killed me. Up to that point I felt pretty invincible. I should have been climbing the mountains, not walking the hall. My new Sorcerer is now level 50, and I am more careful with it and now have the map center on the player. Lesson learned.

Melkor's summons have killed me before. A typical scenario is that I get a bunch of black reavers, nightwalkers, and nightcrawlers that decide to breathe at the monster next to me. Thanks a lot, guys.sephiroth2906 wrote:My best character was a Rohan Knight Sorcerer that I got to level 50 and had some pretty impressive equipment. I feel you pain.
I've never won, and just had my most likely candidate get eaten by his own pets.
Win!, my level 50 Vampire Rohanknight Sorc (right out of Lord Dimwit's guide) got eaten by his own greater dragon army on the The Crypt in Angband. I know that he wasn't wearing aggravation gear, and that I didn't hit any of them with a spell, as I was resting when they turned on me. I haven't used symbiosis past a few starter characters before, and I still have no idea what flipped their allegiance.
Anyone know what causes pets going rogue besides the two situations listed above?

Some monster probably wailed at them. That turns pets but not companions.ggoDeye wrote:I feel you pain.
