Re: Syzygy, a Geomancer
I have decided to retire Syzygy in frustration...
Partly it is a complete lack of understanding about the different effects the tile can give. I found that I was constantly referring to Killerbunnies to find out which tile to step on to get the required effect, then to find that any square I needed would be too far away, or if surrounded I was standing on the wrong square. The constant one shot effect of draining a square was also annoying
So this resulted in me using Manathrust and Noxious Cloud et al rather than what should have been the more effective Channel Element/Vaporise/Elemental Wave.
I am going to try again and I suspect I shall have to do it without any other spellbooks so that I can get to grips with Geomancy properly.
So this will be Syzygy III, partially naked!

Re: Syzygy, a Geomancer
I can't find any spoilers on the Geomancy spells on the wiki. For example, aside from needing to stand on a water square, what is the benefit of channel elements vs. geyser? Damage from Vaporize?
Also, was it just strange luck that I got the Troll quest instead of the Wight quest w. Magic > 8 and Combat < 2?
I've never played one of these before- they're kinda fun!

Thanks- I always forget that's there. Any reason we couldn't copy that onto the forums? (with proper attribution)
So, I have a stupid question about geomancers. do you just ignore lava spots until you have fire immunity? I'm CL 8 on BD 4, and just burnt my spellbook of geyser while trying to channel lava. I have a few geomancer spells available now, but they do require making some elements first.

Yes... My second attempt is going much better, I have no offensive spells so am forced to rely on the Geomancy spells and I am getting a much better feel for them.
What is obvious is that at low levels the Geomancy spells are quite weak, I am hoping they come into their own at higher levels.

The elementals you can summon get to be pretty nasty at high levels.
