Re: Wiki organization
If anyone has a suggestion for a different wiki engine that could be implemented then speak out and explain your reasons. I'm sure DarkGod will help out.
Re: Wiki organization
The guys from mediawiki are pretty much the standard I think?
One with fully functional layout and syntax,
a white background
and not nested in the main site (to free it from the site menu's left and right).
That is all one can ask/hope for really.
Make it look like wikipedia, but with a ToME 4 top header above it.
(I added zones to the wiki and removed some pages that didn't exist and put the more important pages on top)

Re: Wiki organization
I just wanted to say that the new wiki homepage is MUCH better than before. Thank you!
Re: Wiki organization
OK, people have stopped responding here, so I took that as an indication that anyone who objected to my proposal had had ample opportunity to do so. Most of the people responding here seemed not to care one way or the other how the pages were named, so long as they were all linked from the top page. (In fact, this thread seems to have spurred a brief but intense flurry of activity on the wiki, especially an updating of the top page -- clearly a good thing.)
I've done my first pass over the pages, renaming them, putting pseudo redirects (UGH) in place under the old names, and fixing various links and inaccuracies. There's much more to do, of course.
One page I did not rename was tome4-items, because there is a note on it that says "Don't touch me because I'm in the middle of editing it", but there is no datestamp on it. But I probably should have... I've just now checked the revisions link and not only does Final Master's name not even appear in the history list at all (unless he's got a wiki pseudonym), but the last mod time on the page is March, and involves galvorn/mithril rebranding.
Two more wonderful things I've learned about this wiki today:

Two more wonderful things I've learned about this wiki today:
- If you use the mediawiki syntax, [[multiple word links]] become http://te4.org/wiki/multiple_word_links but if you use the dokuwiki syntax, [[multiple word links]] become http://te4.org/wiki/multiple-word-links.
- If you use [[page name|Link Text]] inside a table in dokuwiki syntax, the | inside the link is interpreted as a table element separator. This means you effectively cannot use links in dokuwiki tables. - hell.
Re: Wiki organization
Bucking hell indeed! greycat, would you mind making a page on the wiki giving advice on the best syntax to use in new pages? Including a note saying don't "reserve" a page unless you put a timestamp on it, otherwise your reservation will be rightly ignored.
Re: Wiki organization
Oh yeh that is simple, just make every page use mediawiki syntax and never ever use docuwiki again.
You can make tables in mediawiki syntax, you just have to know how.
That means someone should change this page:
http://te4.org/wiki/formatting
Remove the docuwiki crap out of it, and put mediawiki syntax in it.
Change the input format to mediawiki.

Re: Wiki organization
Aaaaand pass 2 is complete -- the merger of [[tome4-classes-foo]] and [[foo]] into [[classes-foo]] (and the same for races).
Since most of the older content was in dokuwiki format (all of the tome4-* pages, and a few of the rest), I used dokuwiki format in the merged pages. If someone wants to go through all those and convert them to mediawiki, I won't stop you....

Re: Wiki organization
Ya, anything that has my name on it on the wiki you can do with as you want. Most of it is completely outdated and I haven't touched it because something better/already done came so soon after it that it wasn't worth my time anymore. sorry about that.
