Frequently asked questions

#1 Post by Shoob »

so I thought it would be a good idea to post this here to get an idea of what people think should go into the FAQ

I will be going through the spoilers forum too if/when I find time and will be updating this list (in the next post), but feel free to help out and post questions that you think would be frequently asked.

I am new to ToME, how should I get started?

Welcome to ToME! To learn the basics of this game, I recommend that you play the tutorial to get used to the feel and what you can do. ToME4 is very similar to other rogue-likes, and it also features "hidden" classes that you can unlock in game.

Q: How do I see more of the map?
A: If you hold down the shift key, then you can click and drag to scroll the map.

Q: How do I assign hotkeys?
A: Go to the skills screen (m), highlight the ability, and press the hotkey you want to assign. This works with items too, from the inventory screen: anything that can be (u)sed.

Q: Where did my hotkeys go?
A: Pressing tab switches between hotkeys and visible monsters. If there are no visible monsters, that part of the screen will be blank.

Q: I checked that, but I still can't find my hotkeys.
A: You have three pages of hotkeys, and you can switch between them using page-up and page-down. Try hitting page-down a couple of times.
