T-Plus: Poll on new magic realm
For my next release of T-Plus, I am considering a change in Angels' abilities: rather than getting Dispel Evil as a single racial power, they would get access to a realm of magic (Celestial) which only Angels could use. I need your opinions on how this new realm should be handled; the options appear above.

Would giving a "dedicated" Spiritual school to each non-Classic subrace sound reasonable for Angels in T-Plus? (Angels of Fire getting holy-fire based attacks, Angels of War getting spells similar to those granted by Tulkas, and Angels of Death getting their non-Morgothian versions of some Udun spells all make sense IMO. But what kind of extra spells would Heralds get...or Banished Angels, the equivalent of Lost Souls for other races? And what would I call the new schools for which no obvious name suggests itself? Angels of War getting War spells and of Death getting Death spells is a no-brainer; but the name Fire is already taken, for example.)Ben-San Arizona wrote:If Angel subraces are retained as they currently are in T-Plus, it should probably also give different spells to different types of angels at some levels at least. (I voted for bookless skill.)

I like the idea of different types of spells per Angel. I would love to see the Udun type spells with the Angel of Death. I really like using those spells, but hate to have to worship Morgoth for them.

Funny you should mention that just now; I was in the process of importing some Udun spells into the "Death" school for angels of that type. (With access to two appropriate schools, Death angels will probably lose their innate wraithform--and the disadvantages I imposed on them to balance it.)s_latour wrote:I like the idea of different types of spells per Angel. Already implemented in my latest (today's) release. I balanced that with some ranged combat penalties (you don't get much shooting practice with a harp in the bow slot)...the fact that Heralds' first racial spells include Benediction, Song of Peace and Song of Awe should help with long-range nasties though.Burb Lulls wrote:Maybe heralds could have more music-related abilities, and it would
be very fitting (And a bit of a cliche) if one is started with a harp.

Perhaps I'll implement your suggestion when ToME 3 comes out, and Angels get moved to the non-Tolkienian modules I'm planning (Norseband and/or Freeband). The bookless school system is the one currently used, and most players seem to like it so far...if I get more suggestions that favor another method though, that could change.
