New monk skill?

#1 Post by MageMuch »

I was thinking to make monks more useful in the latter lvls to include another skill. Perhaps a skill called Meditation could be used to give resistances against the elements, Nexus... etc. and maybe even Nether at lvl 40. Or maybe some elemental inhancements to your attack on the same/different skill. What do you guys think?

Mh possibly

I was looking at Adamant and it's got (or trying to get ;) traits.
I think it could be good for ToME too, traits would be like boolean skills, you have them or you dont.

They would be bought with skill points too and could have stats and skill requirements to be bought.

Ideas?

Class, I dont think I like the idea, I dont want anything to depend on class, instead we can have skill req

To be honest I have never played a Monk before, I'm abit caught up in playing an Alchemist atm.
It sounds like it would be an improvement from what people are saying. But I'll make a character up and get back to you.

Have a Monastery with Grandaddy monk that teaches skill or gives them to you based on skill advancements. Different types of hand combat that improve damage, etc? I think monks should have mental powers. Not necessarily magic though. You could gain intellect and wisdom by his teachings.

I always played monks in slash'em, and did really great with them - and had ball... tried ToME's and was a little disappointed... (Chi-strike, anyone? Hi-yah!!)

I have an idea. Give the monk more ring slots. A monk could cover most resistances with the right four rings and an amulet.
Digitochracy
n. 1. technocracy. 2. government by the numbers. 3. rule by people with the longest fingers.

He can get more ring slots by possessing a dragon.

But his barehand damage is reduced - apparently humanoid hands are more dangerous than dragon's claws.

Is this allready true with 2.1.2? Because this is exactly what I want to do now, some Monk that only uses Dragoncorpses and who depends heavy on Barehanded combat, Dragon Breath and a different set of character equipment.

It's been fixed in the CVS.

Unfortunately no, it's not fixed in 2.1.2. It wasn't reported until well after 2.1.2.

There won't be a 2.1.3 because the 2.2.0(CVS) version has diverged too far from the 2.1 series.
