Is there no spatter effect? The items would be *covered* with acid. You should have acid resist, just to touch anything - or at least gloves that are not damaged by acid. Of course normal gloves would provide 'temporary' ability to pick up an acid-laced item, until item is rendered useless.

If you really want to get realistic, then (unless you're a skeleton or whatever) any fire attack that causes damage to your character should lower your stealth..... it's that dang smell of burning hair (or feathers, in the case of a Maia).....
