A day in the life of Alucard, the Dunadain Alchemist

#1 Post by Slayer »

After being slain in a past life while battling my father's minions, I determined to return to the world and set things right. My vampire status had been removed when I was slain, leaving me a fully human Lost Soul in the halls of Mandos, though my lineage still left some desirable strengths. I immediately set about collecting the necessary items for my escape, and being surprised at the number of greater demons and such on the lower levels, I headed for the upper 80's. Not before blowing up a few dragons and ghosts and such to get my hand back in at destroying evil, of course. Soon I found myself in need, and for the first time in my life I submitted myself to the will of evil, to become a servant of Morgoth. I gained his favor by destroying a War Tome of Tulkas, and then proceded to take my revenge upon evil in that nest of death.

A while later, I found myself on level 82, at level 34, scouting around for good hunting. I had pronounced some enchantments over my weapon to make it extremely capable, and I created a ring that would increase my attack speed. I found that the Metal Brigandine Armor of Brast I had cooked up came in quite handy with the 274 AC it provided, and the immunity to ice and lightning. Also my reverse-enchanted amulet of Doom (+6) [+3] {cursed} was incredibly useful. I ran into a pit filled with all manner of Black Dragons, and THEN i had some fun!! With nearly full resistances, I battled my way through and then spend hours going over the loot, extracting essences, learning very useful new recipes -in short, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I almost became cocky what with all the excitement, but having learned how to make Crowns of Telepathy in addition to Lordship and Seeing, I felt myself very safe. I was disappointed to note that I had somehow lost my silver rod of trap location, but as I had detected this area and my searching was Legendary, disarming Good, and Stealth Heroic, I was confident of success.

I finished my work and found that I had double-capacity of nearly ever essence. Too much to carry with so few invent slots! I put all of the Life essences into a Fireproof Staff of Recovery(1|40) 141 charges and began to enchant my weapon. At first I merely enjoyed upping the boni some, but then I got serious. I made a few clever enchantments in the right order, and BAM! I had a Blessed Dagger of Slay Animal (+6) (120%) (+334,+305). With 6bpr this seemed sufficient, and already liking the idea of a weapon that had fire, ice, electricity, acid, chaotic, and Vampiric brands, I took off to mess with some Uruks. The loot even from them is worth it at that level. I pierced a chamber, learned yet another armor enchantment, *ID*ed my soft leather gloves of Cameldung or something like that with their FA, made another ring to boost attacks to 8bpr, extracted from my gloves of Charming (+6) to learn their secrets, and then finally stepped out of the tiny closet.

Who would believe that I could land in a trap of Summon Greater Demon?

A Hezrou immediately materialized, and called out his friends. A Lesser balrog and a large group of Dark Green U's appeared whose name I do not recall. I had become confident with my new powers! WIth 674 HP, huge AC, and over 3,000 damage per round to all creatures, I made my stand! The Vampiric weapon would give me all the health I needed, and I can make potions of *Healing* anyway so who cares? I fired off my wand of Essence of Speed to bring me back up to +5 for 300 rounds or so, then waited while the few attacks passed. I struck! The Lesser Balrog fell like a log, and I was surprised to have taken him in a single hit.

ALAS! I had angered the many Chaotic beings surrounding me. I believed my immunities and resistances were enough, but their numbers overwhelmed me then in a single turn!! Instead of activating my junkart of teleport, I had struck their leader down in their very midst! In a mere second I was surrounded, and curses flew amidst pitiful melee blows to strike me down before I could react! CURSE my stupidity for saving points toward Artifact Creation rather than spending them in Spirituality where my instinct told me to! I fell in one glorious flash, my essenses detonating in my final trap for the minions of my father, the Lord of Darkness. I CURSE him to this day! I point at him and say DIE! just as his minions did to me. I will escape again. I will not remain here! If I can destroy your Demons, I will strike you down also! I know this will reach you. Do not be mistaken that this defeat has broken me. I will arise more powerful than ever, and I will create even greater artifacts as a bane to your miserable existance!

P.S.: I did cheese trying to quaff corruption pots until I got vampire form, but for some reason I could not. I wanted the challenge of Mandos along with the vampiric form which fits Alucard's name and history, but I was unable to get it. Even save-scumming the pots did not work. I ended up where I started, without the vampiric form. Oh well, I hope you do not think poorly of me, as I did not make any permanent changes in this way, and I only did it to try to get vampiric form like I wanted when I created my character. At least in TomeNet Vampires are a race.

Until Alucard's final victory which seemed so close finally comes to pass, goodbye!

A day (II) in the life of Alucard, the Dunadain Alchemist

I have succeeded! I have escaped at level 41 with equipment so incredible that it does not bear narrating. Before one discovers that he can store near-unlimited essences in wands and rods, he has to find some way to keep all of them from going to waste on the floor! So he places them in his trusty weapon. After a time, when the weapon is so ridiculously powerful that it provides all but one resistance, and the creator finds it embarassing to do 11,000+ damage per round... He must stop. One more note: *Westerness=indestructible except by player*

I battled my way through all kinds of nuisances, until to my dismay I found that I had travelled to level 83 and discovered a fate to find the Shield of Anarion on level 96. I risked all to journey back... but I discovered the secret to all the stat-boosting potions on my quest, and without any extra boosts reached an HP of 700+. Then I found the Hard Leather Armor of Andun, and boosted to nearly 1k HP. I'm not cheesy enough to enchant my weapon to mass% HP, especially when I don't need it anyway. Besides, the glory is diminished when one finds himself with the capability to kill any monster in existance within 2 rounds. I have not faced the newest versions of my father's greatest minions, nor those such as Morgoth and Sauron who are independant of him.

After meeting my fate, I returned to the surface in a period of 10 minutes without any event other than finding a few worthless types of junkarts in my way. I soon boosted my stats to ! across the board, and dashed around to complete all available quests. Opting finally not to bother looking for the dang Hobbit when I had a rod of the Istari of Recall anyway, and not particularly wanting the Helm of Helm Hammerhand, I dove straight for the Necromancer. I destroyed him, met a group of Q's, and then proceded to battle desperately for my life. I also met Polyphemus and some strange M unique, but the Greek concoctions both fell with a couple of hits. I then proceded to destroy the Q's and their U's. After "splattering" and "pancaking" several anchient Balrogs and such, I face a delimma. I am nearly level 45(one *Pit Fiend* kill away) and I cannot collect the loot, cannot destroy the #@$@ Demonic Q, and cannot get the Darkness essences for Genocide! It is purely evil I tell you!

What I wish to know, is if the uniques or level possess any artifacts which cannot be found elsewhere, or not? I can pass the injustice of this event by cheating, but I do not like to cheat. I could redo this forever until I get to that dang Charisma +4 ammy i see at the bottom and get Darkness essences to create a Genocidal staff, but I do not want to fight the idiotic programming that requires this to be done at level 45 unless there is no other choice. Well, are there unique thingies here to stick around for, and if so what? If they are not worth it anyway then if course i'd go to Gondolin.

I thought the whole point of the HoM was scumming, especially since you're guaranteed to die even more often if you don't at least stair-scum
