A day in the life?

#1 Post by Maylith »

There've been a number of posts asking "about what character level do you do X", etc, by folks who are trying to figure out how to get a character started or out of the Barrow Downs or other lower level dungeons alive. The answers are usually along the lines of "'round about there I do this".

I started a Thaumaturgist just for grins, but I've kept track of just about everything I did: How I got through the first CLs, what I ran into in the Barrow Downs (easy and hard alike), reward (good and blah), when I went after other quests, why I did what I did, etc.

I've got the character almost to CL20 now, almost done with Barrow Downs. I'm willing to type this stuff up (in the Spoilers forum of course) and keep going until she croaks, or even restart with another character class. (I've never run a thaum before.)

I realize this would be a total bore for a fair number of you - and I'm hardly the best player out there - but is there any interest in a detailed character history?

I'm fine with it, but my experience with these things has usually been that the person posts their progress about two or three times, then gets bored and stops posting.

Just a word to the wise.

Just keep it in one thread and nobody can be bothered.

LD: I appreciate the warning. If there's interest, I'll keep up with it until her death (and who knows, I could get her pasted into a quivering mass in the next few minutes :-)). If there's still interest, I'll start another and post once it's well-started. If there's no interest, I'll let it drop.

It took me a long time to be able to get any *band character out of the beginning/low-intermediate stages. I can do so now on a regular basis; it's just the deep levels that fry me. If I can provide help by example (even the "don't do that!" critque-type example) then I'll do what I can. That's the main reason for this poll: I'm not going to knock myself out writing down all kinds of stuff if there's not interest, but if there IS, I don't mind.

Neil: I thought Strategy posts weren't supposed to give specific information

do it, it'll be a great read...

I am especially interested in the "all the details" parts

I'm sure all experienced players have different strategies for going back home/ when to swap etc which are nevere discussed, whith such a post, we would have interesting discussions on subjects never seen before

What character class? (I ask, nervously. There's a bunch of them I've never done, but who knows  I'd never done a Thaumaturgist, either.)

How about a monk? The trade-off practice between wearing armor with magic and taking it off for fighting is proabbly an interesting read.

If you feel the need to give detailed information, put it in the spoiler forum.

that's not really a spoiler, more like a strategy question... the fact that armor encumbers monks is documented isn't it ?

*points out my original post, where I mentioned putting it in spoilers*

I'll try just about any class, just keep in mind if I'm very unfamiliar with it it may be a while before I have anything to post

What are you waiting for?!

Though, I am wondering... You gonna check the interest through views or replies? I assume replies... Anyway... Give us your day in the life of your monk.

I've tried monks, and like to know how to play them better.

Sounds like a great idea. You won't be typing at thin air - I say that because too many 'keep going, all listening' replies might break up the story ... maybe it'll start a trend, get Lord D to publish "Oh Heck - a Diary of Dum'd the Yeek Bard" :-)
