Prisoner Quest

#1 Post by paboperfecto »

I've never done the prisoner quest in DolGuldur before. I decided to this time but couldn't find the prisoner anywhere. On level 60 I got a yellow message announcing the quest and searched every level after that. Could it have been on a level before that message? Also what am I looking for....I've pictured it like a princess quest with a glass wall prison.

Nip down and polish off the Necromancer, then keep your eyes open when you get back up to the level you heard the screaming or whatever. If you character doesn't have offensive spells you may want to take along e.g. a meaty crossbow and some bolts - on second thoughts not some bolts, lots and lots of bolts.

Thanks! Finally got to put to use my Morning Star of Westernesse that I've been lugging around (I am a haftedmaster).

Did I just miss it the first time through or do you need to kill the Necromancer first?

You don't have to kill the Necromancer first. But the Prisoner's "cage" isn't very obvious at first glance unless you know what you're looking for -- and if you have "always generate unusually small rooms" on, then you've no guarantee that it'll even show up.

When you get to the right (random) level, you get the message but never get the room. You have to remember what the level was and scum up and down a few times. Dol Guldur tends to have small levels, so often the room won't fit and doesn't get generated. And as Derakon pointed out, it is really difficult to get it if you have unusual rooms on (although you can eventually get it by scumming). If you miss it you can always come back- it isn't a "do it or lose it" quest.

About the only thing mildly useful about it is that you have a decent chance of getting "breathe underwater" from the reward, which may make it easier to get another guaranteed quest object that can be useful.
