Yes. Summoning GWoP at the Barrow-Downs is a horrible joke

Moldoux does not summon GWoP. It will only appear if you kill him.
Above the hearth was a huge pokerwork sign saying "Mother". No tyrant in the whole history of the world had ever achieved a domination so complete.

I've had that happen to me a few times. I usually just breeze very quickly through the dungeon, finding only what monsters or objects I need to complete a quest. I don't know if anyone else actually takes the time to take each step very carefully, and I'm not criticizing anyone who does.

All I see is a purple 'm' in my way... well, you know what happens next.

Either I teleport away, or run like there's a Great Wyrm of Power on my tail, which there just happens to be. I personally don't think that this whole protection thing is a good idea. Unless, of course, the game summoned a monster that was less powerful than a GWoP.
And it was such a good idea...

It has not to be good idea. It's a joke and you are not forced to have it turned on.

Moldoux is worst for people who come from V. First time I met him I thought he was a disenchanter mold. He is, in general, a poor joke.

i'm ashamed of admitting it. whenever i read a report of somebody inwittingly killing moldoux, i'm amused...

there IS some moral to it. you need not kill everything you see.
if everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane

If you want to discourage people killing everything they see you should make it so they don't feel they need to kill everything they see. Make townsfolk less annoying and novice priests less homicidal and people won't assume anything that shows up on the screen is an enemy.

Perhaps allow you to talk to friendly creatures - and I mean have a conversation, with multiple responses triggered by what you decide to say? (No I'm not going to shut up about this.)

If you're going to keep talking about it, then that talk had better include a patch. :-)

I might, but I'm not sure where to get the CVS source. I tried a couple months ago, but sourceforge was being flaky about anonymous access. A complete lack of experience with CVS clients hasn't helped.
