Sanity? Unthinkable vegetable? help ;P
I've been playing this since Pern & have yet to beat it!
I usually die because I'm impatient, traps (lol...), fightning things I shouldn't, not leaving fights when I should, or just by not knowing what I was up against at all.
But lately my 2 most annoying deaths have been from turning into an unthinkable vegetable I believe. One was from the glass golem which happened almost instantly on my mindcafter. I think it's from going to a negative sanity level maybe, so I started carrying cure sanity things around.
This time around I'm all the way to lvl33 mirkwood but have a silent watcher princess quest & all they do is confuse me like heck & drain insanity so I left onto the next main dungeon. Well now I just hit lvl 35 & have climbing & detection, 174AC with almost every resistance (No immunity yet.) and going to Erebor to hunt dragons & wyrms to get better gear.
I'm just wondering if there's a specific resistance or stat that helps to the sanity draining, or that turning into an unthinkable vegetable? Right now I'm maxed all stats but my gear could use a little help ;x

So far as I know, nothing in the game gives resistance or immunity to sanity-drain. I vaguelly remember thinking that there are a couple chaos attacks that can drain sanity as a side effect, and chaos resistance should provide protection from those, but even that won't protect you from anything that has a direct sanity drain: illithids, glass golems, eyes, etc.whatthe wrote:if there's a specific resistance or stat that helps to the sanity

Start hoarding restore sanity potions early on in case you don't manage to find a junkart that restores sanity. Dungeon towns are often a good source for potions.

Thanks LB
Been a long time since I've posted here, actually had to register a new name since I couldn't figure out my old one haha.
Here's my post on Oook:

I just leveled up pretty fast to lvl42. I abused my climbing ability by my boots to milk a few summoning Q's for exp.
I left Erebor for Mordor in hopes of a FF quest for the last Mindcraft point, and than to decide to use it or not. I'm not sure what else to dump points into as I've never got a meele type this far along. If it gets tough down there in Mordor I'll leave back to Erebor to try to cover the remaining immunities & resists.
I actually found an junkart of cure insanity which is great. I can go back to those silent watchers now that I have that, resist confusion and a bunch of stolen cure potions ;x soon as I remember to. Now that I think of it I should go get the sanity junkart to save my potions incase of a crazy fight.
I want to fight the glass golem, but I'm afraid of dying in one round like last time haha. Maybe I'll try him later.

Also gota say that these small levels can be tough when trying to teleport out of danger, and the levels so small that you can't get away... I'm going to turn that off if/when I die along with the joke monsters I tried for fun.

Saving throw helps chances of sanity drain I think. My last character (who was also my first winner
) escaped all sanity blasting (and I mean all, not once did it happen) by high saving throws, or perhaps he was just lucky.

Yeah my last character I believe the mindcrafter had a ton of saving throw I believe.
I've got a hand druj & eye druj princess quest on lvl 52 & 53 or Mordor to deal with. I don't know much about em but I remember hearing they're a pita! Hopefully this isnt the end ;P

Hand druj and eye druj are two of the main reasons I haven't done princess quests for a while, makes you live longer.

Most of the layouts can be tackled without big exposure, albeit in tedious and slightly grubby-feeling ways. Lots of digging, lots of ball spells or shooting round corners by targetting distant squares - at last, artifact boomerangs find purpose to their lives, beyond nibbling away at death molds

Re: Sanity? Unthinkable vegetable? help ;P
I know, I just get tired of dozens of tedious slaughters of my enemy. Though ironically, tedious slaughter is the best way.

That's the spirit - crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their womenfolk. I'm not quite sure how to drive a Druj before me, but ever willing to give it a shot

Re: Sanity? Unthinkable vegetable? help ;P
I hate having them driven away before me, because that means they're running away and will heal again. And if I can hear lamentations, then obviously my work is not done.

If I recall correctly, improving your wisdom will increase your total sanity pool. Unwise characters are at much greater danger from sanity-blasting attacks. Basically, sanity is to wisdom what hitpoints are to constitution. Both also increase with character level.

Pffft. Druj? Easy: 50 points into Antimagic, a Dark Sword (+0,+0) and you're good to go.
