Advice for my weird build?

#1 Post by bostock »

Hi guys,

I'm currently running a Vampire Rohanknight Swordmaster... of Eru. Because it's silly. I've just cleared out deathwatch and have one god quest under my belt.

Any advice anyone can give me besides "find Ringil"?

I generally go looking for dungeon towns with potion stores at your stage. Ring stores (or speed ring stores) are great once you get your Dex high enough to safely steal things. After the Orc Caves, I try the Old Forest, Rhun, Moria, and Sacred Land of Mountains in that order. Hang on to Maedros for stealing (it isn't blessed by the gods, IIRC). Don't go wandering around in the last three without some way of detecting monsters!

Thanks, Yottle. This guy just died a minute ago, while in the midst of a frustrating situation: my light had both run out and gotten cursed while in a god temple, as I was taking it on without enlightenment. So I couldn't enter the wilderness map due to the exhausted lamp, and couldn't remove the lamp due to the cursing. I was far in the east, "SE of Bree and NE of Minas Whatever". I held out a long time due to vampirism and traveled a long way (I eventually turned on auto-digging), passing through a big forest and a lot of water, reaching a long vertical mountain range but got careless at night while hunting for something to vampirise, and so I got quickly cut down by a giant roc while distractedly chopping trees in a mountains area.

So, lesson learned: when lawnmowing a temple, if nothing else, carry and never ever drop lots of oil, or RC, or both.

Obviously, ideally one just has 5 enlightenments, but I have no idea how one does that. That is, how does one "easily" round up 5 englightenments?

You may need six, not five. That's another reason to find a potion store to loot. But with this character, why bother with god quests at all?

7.5 points of free prayer to power some divinations or at least eruspells seems nice. Plus thematically fits with the choice of taking the weird god choice. Nothing more to it than that.

What's the reason for needing six per relic? Or did you mean six overall?

EDIT: 12.5 not 7.5, of course.

It can take up to six tries to generate a level with the relic. Of course it can happen on the first try, so if I find a ! of enlightenment and want the quest I will go try it. There is no reason that all the tries have to be taken at once.
