Where to find the spell of Genocide?

So I am a lvl29 Dark Elf, Sorcerer, Melkor - have pumped a load into Nature and 1.2 into Udun but I have never seen the spellbook of genocide? Is it to be acquired from somewhere special or will it eventually turn up in a town??

It wasn't even on the library quest list of spells.

Have never tried with Melkor before, any help appreciated.

You need the "Unholy Tome of the Hellflame" which is the Udun book. It can appear in the dungeon towns in the Old Forest or Orc caves if you're lucky.
Otherwise once you're in the dungeons like bottom of Moria, Sacred Land of Mountains, Dol Gudur, Paths of the Dead it tends to turn up a lot more in monster drops. There's one undead L (can't remember the name sorry) which drops tomes very regularly.

Ah ok so maybe there is no spellbook of genocide then and it only exists in the Tome? Thanks.

Do I really need to put 50 points into Nature to use it btw? It says a combined average of 25 and I have read a few times to only put 1 point into Udun. Well I guess I answered my own question but damn 50 points into Nature!

I don't think you need Nature, because thjat will be covered by Sorcery. It covers all the magic except Udun and Prayer I think

Genocide spell books do occur, I am fairly sure. However, it is a high level spell and won't be in the shops very often. You can (I think) also be guaranteed to get it by doing the library quest in MA. This would not be a bad choice since the other spells in the UTotH aren't very useful, at least to me.

You need an average of 25, which means 1 point in Udun and 50 points in Nature or Sorcery. I always put the points into Sorcery, of course. Sometimes when I get impatient I will put more points into Udun so that I can get Genocide below level 46. Of course then I usually die from casting Genocide on too many monsters at once.

Well I have started my char again, same Dark Elf / Sorcery but I have changed over to putting individual points into the skills rather than sorcery. Am determined this time to win!

Good luck... Just FYI, be warned that monsters in Angband proper are leveled up - and they get a speed and hitpoint bonus depending on their level. Novice rogues and whatnot can actually be dangerous in Angband, and Zephyr hounds are absolutely lethal.

(NB: I've never actually won outside debug mode, so take any advice from me with a grain of salt.)
