How exactly saves work?

Which die is used? For saves vs debuffs? For saves vs damage (Dismissal skill)? Is it save vs d100 check always? What about defence vs Attack, while we are at it? Wiki is silent.

Go through the in-game advanced tutorial (selectable from the char creation screen), it's quite good for explaining this stuff.
