Tree Walking Ability

#1 Post by Makkoan »

I'm as to whether anyone has ever bought this ability. It seems pretty usless. Flying lets you pass trees, and the later dungeons don't have trees that you can pass. And it costs 7 points. If it cost 2 or 3, it might be worth it, but 7 is too high (for me anyway).

So, ever bought the tree walking ability?

Yep, you can buy abilities by pushing 'N'.

The problem isn't really the cost but the skill requirement, the ability is usually useless once you get enough skill in Nature.

Well, I didn't vote yes or no because I almost always play wood elves, which get Tree Walking intrinsically. The characters I play don't get Nature spells (at least not currently) and I'll be darned if I'll give up a ring slot to flying. (If it turns up on a random piece of armor, that's fine, but.....)

So yes, I find it VERY useful. But I don't buy it :D

it's not worth buying, flight is too easy to get, and usually cheaper, (in mid- and late-game, any amount of cash is usually cheaper than even a few skill points, because there's no cap to the total amount of cash you'l see in your char's lifetime.) but it's still needed for those who have it intrinsically. perhaps it could be made automatic for those classes with access to nature skill...

you forget all the player (like me) who don't plan their character to beat Mogroth... some characters have extra skillpoints quite early, and might be interested in the ability when going into mirkwood... knowing that they usually die about there and want to be as powerfull as possible here, and not there...

if it's usefull at low level/help newbies get out of the first dungeons, than it's usefull... it's just not usefull for experianced players...
