Save File Broken

#1 Post by budswell »

Hi,
I have been using the same save file for all my characters, a couple of years now. But it now seems t be corrupt. This is the first time I have ever quit and saves in the Bree House quest. Now when I try to load the main screen says

Code: Select all

Loading version 104 savefile...
Restoring Dungeon...
Savefile broken Before do_dungeon
And a popup alert box says

Code: Select all

Too many spell effects
I click OK and it exits.

Playing the unofficial 2.3.6 version ("2.3.5 (CVS)") provided by sigsegv around August 2008.
Not a big deal (just lose recall and high scores), I just thought you guys talking about bugs etc might be interested. I have uploaded the savefile here:

I thought this bug was fixed. Anyway, AFAIK it only happens on the bree quest, so never save there.

You can start a new character withouth loading your game, using command line options. It should be something like:

tome -n -u PLAYER
sign: File not found.

I just started a new save file. Think you can do it in the game (without playing with options), just select "New Character" from the menu after the title screen. Unfortunately you old save file is now toast, you have lost that game.

As elcugo says, just don't save in the the Bree house quest.

I play the CVS version which is 2.3.5 plus some fixes by sigsegv from a year or so ago. I have not tried the newer version (2.3.8) put together by AnonymousHero and others. So don't know if the issue is fixed in that one.

I'm pretty sure I haven't done anything specifically to try to fix this (wasn't aware of the bug).
