I'd certainly play T3 sometime, and maybe try to grab some time to come back to the forums if there's stuff to talk about. Just busy right now as work's crazy in the summer and I just got married so free gaming time is very rare.
Edit: see, I was just told I have 20 minutes to take a shower, then we gotta eat dinner, and then its off to a concert.

Well, ToME uses old-fashioned centralized CVS and if you want to get commit rights you'll have to email DarkGod for a permission but otherwise things are just like you'd like to.AnonymousHero wrote:Write in option: Put in on a DVCS and watch me play and contribute!

I'm never ever again using CVS if I can avoid it in any way. Even the company I work for (which has tended to be conservative about these things) is moving to a DVCS.
I've come to the conclusion that it's simply impossible to explain to someone why DVCS's are so superior for everything from one-person projects to projects with huge numbers of developers, so I can only encourage you to try it.

Well, I don't really have anything to compare with, but declaring a $CVSROOT environment variable made the commands manageable instead of pure pain. But you probably knew that already.AnonymousHero wrote:I'm never ever again using CVS if I can avoid it in any way. I would have to start/join a new project to get a taste of DVCS, so it looks like I'm not going to do it in the foreseeable future.
It also helps if you have a text editor that has the unlimited undo feature. It mitigates the problems of version control in the local copy.

Try it locally even if you're going to commit to CVS in the end. Even this very limited use of a DVCS deceases the pain of working with CVS immensely since you can keep separate logical changes you make separate from each other.
I'm sure someone has described how to use a DVCS together with a centralized system somewhere out there on the interwebs, so I won't bother expounding here
.
Btw, I started out using a DVCS (Bazaar) this way at work while we were still using CVS and even this was a huge improvement. People were always impressed by my ability to instantly commit logical changes without having to wade through files to pick out individual changes to commit.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.
Would play with great, great joy.
Was addicted to TOME 2 for ages--I think it is by far (by *far*) the best rogue variant I've played--and I still check back every month or so to see how T3 is going.
