Player roll call: If T3 were released today, would you play?
Moderator: Moderator
Just read the T3 storyline on the dormant wiki... this has so much appeal far beyond the current TOME community!
Besides, what sustains this community is new versions coming out every so often.
I don't think the market survey approach will tell us the real size of the player base... but FWIW, I'll definitely play if T3 were released.
[Edit]
And never mind fully completed, why bake the perfect cake when all we want is a slice, a taste... I'd say release it with an acknowledgement of the to-dos, at least we'll tap into the interest. Best done early (today sounds good!)

Needs support
Hi all,
It seems to me that this project is in serious need of some community support. A fair few people want v3 to arrive but are just too busy to help. The sad thing is, the project is really close to being finished (at least to a playable state) and it just needs a bit of a push to get there.
If we open up the development, get some conversations going and all the C++ coders out there fix one bug each, then we would be well on the way. I for one wouldn't mind doing this for a game to which I devoted so much of my precious youth
If there's anyone left out there, post what you think.

I hope people aren't taking the lack of hundreds of votes to mean lack of interest. After discovering ToME 5 or 6 years ago (or more, I'm getting old) word of mouth has garnered other devoted players. Out of the people that I specifically influenced and play the game -0- have been on the forums. This might be the first time I've ever even been in this part of the forums.
I really hope ToME 3 is finished, I love 2.x and some of the mods created for it. If T3 is never release it would be a pity, there has to be a fair number of people out there that really enjoy the game but will never see this poll.

I agree, nobody I know that plays this has ever been on this forum (I became the odd one by joining.)
For my part, the lack of votes isn't discouraging, although I might like the game to be popular and widespread. I don't really mind much, as long as I like to play it.

I really do exist.
I really do exist.
I'm late to the party
I am definitely in the lurker category. I am a pretty casual player who played TOME 2.X occasionally for years. I have been back to a few hours of vanilla a month of late. As soon as a playable version of 3.0 comes out I will be all over it.
I know there is a lot of discussion about fixed quests and if they are good for the game. For players like me (who will probably never win, and get bogged down with the hoards of nearly impossibly enemies in the more difficult dungeons) fixed quests, especially really Tolkeinesque ones, really add flavor to the game. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks.

Hey registering just to vote yes!
I agree with what some of the previous users have said, almost all of the people I know who play this game have never visited the forums and you guys definitely shouldn't get discouraged by a perceived lack of interest. When 3.0 is released there will be no lack of people clamouring to play the hell out of it.

I've been playing this game since I was... 13? Pernband? Jeez... I've loved the game always had an off and on again love affair. Never beat it but I'll always come back for more. You should see me describe this game to people who catch me playing it...
"They chose not to worry about graphics. They devote all their time to making more content and more features instead... The dogs? Act like dogs! They can follow you if your bleeding, they attack you in packs they won't chase you alone one by one in hallways. Scrolls? Catch on fire! It's perfect."
Make TOME 3 and I'll find a street crew? *laughs*
This games a beauty. I'll appreciate your work alone if need be.
I wish I was a coder.

I check out the site every now and then, ever since I got into Tome some 5 years ago, to see if there is a new release..
I am hoping to see a 3.0 release soon.
So, yeah, I'd play it for sure.

Well, now that DG is back (kinda) and we have an organized team of developers, progress on Tome 3 should proceed at a more steady clip.
And it was such a good idea...

Yes!
I've only gotten into playing ToME recently but look forward to any updates / new versions. Not because I've had any issues (I haven't) but just to see what else you all can think of!
I'm sure you've heard it before but it's refreshing to find an extremely enjoyable game to play, thank you!

We've heard it before, yes, but right now, we need all the encouragement we can get.

I don't really use the forums and only check the site every few months to see if a new version is out. But had I found any new updates today I definitely would have tried them out!
One way of gauging interest might be to release a new 2 version and see how many downloads it gets. I saw a reference to known bugs earlier. Or a new gimmick could be added, like re-introducing upgrading specific spells or something...
