little n00b question about maxin stats

OKay.. So I am playing as an alchemist, and got myself all the recipes for gain stat potions.
I made a lot of them and quaffed them, until I had all my stats go from ''Stat: ##'' to '' Stat! ##''

does the : changing to ! indicate that those stats are maxed?

The ! means that the stats are naturally maxed so that potions of stat won't raise them anymore. Equipment can still raise stats up to 40.

I'm more happy now even. Just found and *identified* a potion of experience. 20 essences of Extra Life. Phaw!
