Humans gain levels faster. More levels means more everything (HP, SP, etc) sooner. You can start a human and get to level 25 or 30 pretty quickly. This helps players (newbies) who don't often get far into the game. With humans, I have gained sometimes 5 or 6 levels just trying to finish a fumblefingers quest. The Fury wrote:I guess my problem with humans is that they are kind of bland. * omits the normal pitch for FuryMod.
SO-
What sets humans apart is they can be 20%-40% higher level than other races, when the comparison is made at the same point in the game's "plot".
Unfortunately, the higher level you are, the less exp you gain per kill.Throckmorton wrote:Humans gain levels faster. More levels means more everything (HP, SP, etc) sooner. Yeah, I used to prefer humans in part for their storyline quality (not everything needs to be a zombie half-orc or whatever) and their quick level gain. But nowadays that actually starts penalizing you particularly as the game wears on. My experience has been that once you hit midgame it's far more important to find good equipment than to pick up another level, and the time spent looking for goodies tends to result in more levels anyway. Gaining levels too quickly exposes you to overpowered quests like God quests or a certain effectively mandatory one quite possibly too soon. These days I much prefer characters with nice fat EXP "penalties" like high elfs or dunadan not for their innates or stat bonuses (although those are nice) but for the added braking it puts on their level gain. You can't really tell the difference at low levels anyway, but at higher levels it gives you the time you need to clean out a few more dungeons and get ready.
I'm the best at what I do. But what I do isn't very nice.
