The textbox for wiki editing refuses to constrain its size to the available horizontal space, making editing very prohibitivly difficult. This may be a MSIE problem, but I've had no similar troubles anywhere else.

The text box is configurable in size. It can't be ideal for everyone...

Uhh.... speak for yourself. :) When I was writing software, I usually *started* with the documentation and the test plan. (Which of course got updated enormously as time went on, but....) That in turn became pseudocode, etc, etc.

Back OT: I'm slowly figuring the wiki out. I've noticed that the examples in the help files are not wholly accurate (or at least unclear), though, which is frustrating.

If I enter one charachter in it it resizes to be too wide for a 1280 X 1024 monitor.

Hmmm... very useful.

I can see this replacing substantial sections of the forum. And a good thing too... :)

The wikki editing problem mentined above is apparently an IE problem since it vanished when I switched browsers. It should probably stillbe looked into, since most windows users will be effected.

OK, now that the wiki seems to be working, I ask that we close the Bugs, Ideas, and Spoilers sections of the Forum. Even if the wiki isn't obviously superior for General discussion, it is for those three sections.

Works for me. I suggest, though, that while the main Spoilers wiki takes shape, we add a stub there along the lines of "Spoilers request". (Or would that go in under the General discussions wiki??)

Just create a stub and ask the question, I say. But this question should have been asked in a new thread on wiki discussion. Feel free to paste your question and my answer into one. :-)

except that you haven't actually fixed the MSIE edit box problem, and that remains the dominant windows browser.

1. I can't fix proprietary MS software. The sources aren't available for me to do so.

2. I told you how to work around it. Create an account and choose the edit box size yourself.

The Wiki seems to be ignoring the editor size setting in User Preferences. But I don't think that should be a show stopper. I just keep typing past what I can read and then preview the page and fix whatever typos I made.

Try removing the adjustable textbox size, it may well be what's causing the problem.

Once you figure out this message box thing, I suggest you formulate the question and answer(s) and post them in Wiki Frequently Asked Questions.

Neil -- will do.
