Should Newline/Jackson make 'The Hobbit'

#1 Post by wolfis »

a little bit off the track ... but i think that peter jackson should start working on the 'hobbit' ... the first movie had about 5 minutes of flashbacks but i just know it would be a success and considering how much money the lotr movies are making newline would be foolish not to.

anyway i really just wanted a chance to make a poll :D

Ok this one would be at least a decalogy :)

Yessss, my preciousssss :)

But I recall Peter Jackson in some interview, that he's never going to make Hobbit. And I think it's kinda wise, you know. Hobbit is more a fairy tale for children, then serious fantasy.
I have a dream. One day, everyone should find Feanor.

Yup he said he would get back to "lesser" movies

But I'd love a silmarillion ... :)

Hobbit = kid story

When it was written and published, The Hobbit was intended and sold as a children's book. But children must have devolved over the years, my 7 year-old son must be hearing bad things at school because he doesn't want to read 'chapter books'. I know he's a bit young, but the material isn't hard to read or follow.

The Hobbit was reviewed by the young (8-10 year old) son of the publisher that originally published the book.

The Hobbit cartoon movie is good enough that I don't think there is need for a live action, if you havn't seen it go for it, Gollum is creepy and the whole thing is awsome...

not like the cartoon LOTR, now THAT was drech.

As for the Silmarillion, which I am currently re-re-re reading, that truly would be an EPIC movie, heh, longer than Ishtar, but better I am sure.
damn ts...if only I had a scroll of genocide

Yeah, Jackson will not do it.....but WETA should be involved! Everyone is hearing about the burgeoning New Zealand Film phenomina caused by LOTR movies. And, they probably have a couple warehouses full of beautiful hand-crafted props for the land of Middle Earth now sitting in storage somewhere. It's a given it would be a money maker (despite it being a fairy tale, and in fact, probably because of it.)

I envision the same effects house Weta and Weta digital), a new young New Zealand talent team at the helm, perhaps some of the same actors (Ian Makellan as Gandalf would be a MUST), maybe PJ or his production company producing.

If you're still in doubt....imaging Smaug brought to life in full WETA digital glory! :)

Someone start a petition! ;)

Necro'ing the CRAP out of this post. Talk about PROPHETIC. Some were wrong...some were right...take THIS one, for example. HAHAHAHAHA. 2002...the year I graduated high school. If you posted here, remember this, or read it...what do you think NOW that a whole Hobbit trilogy has not only been announced...but is completely made and finished 13 years after this post?
