Do you play other games besides ToME?

#1 Post by Lord Dimwit »

OK, so I'm a little curious about the demographic of ToME players... AFAIK most of them are around high school / college age and about half of them are in Europe, with the other half mostly in the US.

What I'd like to know is whether video game participation is habitual or just a special case among them / us...

Little do they know about my plot to obtain free demographic information about them via this forum and eventually sell them overpriced sponges with Morgoth's picture on them! BWA HA HA HA HA!

I'd appreciate your input...

Currently I am playing Soul Calibur II(GC) , though I used to play Super Smash Bros: Melee until I became so good it wasn't even fun (even went to a few tournaments). Um.....The only game I plan on getting is Metroid prime 2, beat the first one on hard. Occasionly I download games from gamehippo for kicks  .

I used to alternate between Angband and NetHack every few months, switching to one when I got bored with the other. Once I switched to ToME, though, neither has gotten a look-in.

HARDCORE GAMER!

I am (believe it or not) very fond of Quake. All three. I am the best player that I've met (not internet, irl), so that is probably why I like it. You tend to like games you're good at.

I like counterstrike too, though I am not so good at it, so I don't like it as much.

I like quests, such as Gabriel Knight, Lara Bow, etc. I have Grim Fandango, but the game got too long, and I'll play it again from the start some day.

Tetris, sokoban, star control II (melee part, the full game is nice too, but not worth a third and a fourth play).

Civilization is also a great game. Starcraft.

I played some other angs, but since tome 1 I was hooked. Didn't like the skills initially, but it seems to work better now (just need more points per level!)

ToME is one of several favorite games (mostly RPGs and strategy) that I cycle between. I'll get tired of it soon enough, but I'll be back again later.

I was playing mostly RPG's and strategies, but some time ago got bored of the most games. Besides ToME I plan to take up ADOM again some day and I play Max Payne (both 1 & 2) almost every day, because I need some time when thinking is out and reflexes counts for everything (and graphics are nice, not as good as ASCII mode, but still satisfactory :D )

ADOM I a nice game too, but it's evolving too slow (sadly) but 1.2.0 should be around the corner. But I still think that ToME has more possibilities and it's much easier to make a difference (submitting an idea etc)

Hoom... I think that actually ADOM has got over its peak and version 1.1.1 (not to mention 110) is *worse* than 1.0.0. On the other hand ADOM is more intricate-made than ToME, but not as addictive... I'd like to see extended monster-speeches in ToME some day as well as inventory system, but I can get over these disadvantages and play ToME eagerly, as it is *great* (except when chain summoners come into play).

I have a Gamecube and play on it from time to time, I'm currently playing Skies of Arcadia: Legends and Zelda:oot. But ToME is more or less the only PC-game I play, exept for an occational game of X-com ot Total Annihilation.

Same here. T-O-M-E is my game life. Even if I'm getting older (near 30!), I'm hooked ! :-) ... I don't play often. And usually get killed near clvl 35. Maybe 2-4 players every year.

TOME has a few things that other games might not have (might, because I don't know many other games :-)). 1) it's free. 2) it's addictive. 3) it's really addictive. 4) the community and developper team is great (hey, DG is a B5 fan! ;-)). 5) I have fun playing it. 6) Makes my girlfriend laugh when she sees I'm killing letters :-) :-).

ToME should be marketed to a larger crowd. This is a great game. I dream of the day where great tiles are going to be introduced. I can have a Great Life, a Great Girlfriend, a Great Job, Great Projects, and still have fun playing ToME once in a while.... :-)

Thanks for reading ! ;-)
