Re: What content would you like to see from the Darkgod soon

The ultimate Sher Tul artefacts - Sentient items: Blade, that does its own fighting (nice for ranged classes) but leaches the experience from it to itself (with levels and talents included); Wizard's pointy hat that has it's own magic & mindpower stats and does it's own spellcasting... A lot lik...

Re: ToME off of Wikipedia

Looks good. Some thoughts: I think some more could be said about the engine - after all, one thing that makes it notable is that the same platform (te4) can be used beyond mere extensions to Maj'Eyal. Likewise, the aspect of ToME being Free software, could be brought up even more, and clarified that...

Re: How about replay

Well, one could take a screenshot of every turn at the very moment you press a button (or something) that ends the turn, and then another with the effects at the beginning of the next turn. Then buffer, say 10 of these. In case you want to save, click ESC to "save replay". Of course, this ...

AFAIK, music itself isn't. The question is about the playlist, or which pieces are played during the game...

Compile problem in Linux

Hi! I'm running 64bit Ubuntu 12.04. I followed the wiki instruction on compiling up to the point: premake4 gmake && make I get error: particles.c ../src/particles.c: In function ‘particles_emit’: ../src/particles.c:406:53: warning: cast from pointer to integer of different size [-Wpointer-to...

Re: Is Darkgod a fan of Celestial Aeon Project?

Copyright holders always have the right to license their work as they please :) For example, once one has licensed work as CC-SA-ND-NC, one can dual license it to someone else for example as CC-SA, to be used commercially, and made derivatives. Of course, for such more liberate license one could cha...

Re: Is Darkgod a fan of Celestial Aeon Project?

Are you sure? :? I'm not a lawyer, but that seems a bit... questionable to me. What you're essentially saying is that the music is freely useable according to the terms of the CC license, but if you choose a certain subset of tracks, you HAVE to put your entire project under GPLv3 because another p...

Re: Spicing up the meta-game

Yes its nice and super cool that DG can roll out some content dynamically here and there, but I dont want that to be the norm and I REALLY dont want unlocks to be limited to those 1 time events.. To clarify, I didn't suggest this. Limited unlocks would be available in any game and stacking. Say eve...

Re: What aggravates you the most or keeps you in ToME?

What aggravates: Marketing. I mean, this is the best game ever. It would deserve people who spread the word.

What keeps: Addiction.

Re: Is Darkgod a fan of Celestial Aeon Project?

Oh, it probably is covered by copyright. I recall a lawyer who helps companies to comply with free software licenses once said that the order of parameters in a function call would likely fall under a copyright. In fact, when there's "a lot of work done" in a creative process, you can pret...

Good replayability is essential.

Another idea just came to my mind: How about a shared zone with increasing loots... To be claimed at most once per profile...

Re: On non-linear storylines

Is reaching 1.0 - finally :D But I hope the development does not stop there. Routes that alternate randomly - and you cannot know beforehand if the choices you make will this time lead to victory or dead end (even if you manage to stay alive). BTW, any plans on how the development will continue? Sav...

Re: Is Darkgod a fan of Celestial Aeon Project?

We may never know. The truth is out there. No. But we can always speculate. He has used their music and contacted them... Btw. If someone uses the score (selection) picked for the ToME project, they should in the least comply with the ToME license. The selection is covered with copyright, so to use...

Re: This sort of thing makes the game unbalanced...

Hmm... The root of the problem might be that you entered at level 11. The dungeon is scaled when you enter, and has upper cap of 5, but obviously this does not apply to vaults, which are always of higher level - don't follow the cap. I wonder if the vaults are scaled to the user (or even multiplied ...
