ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I can't seem to get past the first quest. I've taken out the bad guy but the second objective doesn't do anything. Any help? Auto-explore only seems to take me back to the second area.

Sorry for the dumb question, but I'm really new tot he game. I've cleared out the three levels of the forest. I've killed the bear dude and even though it seems like I've cleared all of the levels, the second onjective still seems to be active. Am I missing anything? Auto-explore doesn't seem to fin...
