This seemed like an excellent artifact. However whenever I enter combat I get attacked by a "the one that hunts". This thing hits me hard and takes out my shield. Is there any way to counter this, or do I have to endure it while I use the ring?

I am at level 4 and can't find any stairs down? I go back to level 1 and there are no stairs up. Have I missed anything?

I let a Vampire hit me hundreds of times, until the Prodigy unlocked. At 10-12 Blight damage per hit,it took quite a while.
