I'm not sure if there was a zone inside a zone but yes, I probably used the Rod of Recall.. I saw the entry to the Temple of Creation but decided to do Ardhungol first which was nearby. I recalled using the Rod after killing the boss and I noticed that the entrence to the Temple wasn't on the world ...

I installed some addons at some point (not sure when exactly) but it was in the middle of the aforementioned run (I don't know exactly when) so addons work only when I start new game.
