Re: At what point do your characters usually stop?
My last character stopped just after Tannen's Tower or Tannen's dungeon (no deaths up to that point iirc). With the extra experience from insane difficulty, the character level has essentially maxed by this time and I'm no longer motivated for the gameplay repetition of the 3 other prides and the sl...

Re: My ideas for making the "war on orcs" much more engaging
+1 My enjoyable play goals are always (and note this is mostly insane difficulty now): - get to level 20 and through the Forest, fight the Weirdling when doable - run all the remaining sidestuff without too much overland travel, especially after level 24 - plan the character build to hopefully survi...

Re: Weapon Based Wyrmic Semi-Guide
It is not the healing that procs ancestral life, but the resulting regeration effect through the fungus tree which procs ancestral life. That is why ancestral life and the tree in general is considered a bit of an exploit (depending on your point of view). You then cancel the resulting regen and ini...

Re: Suggestion: Undead hounds for ghoul temporal wardens?
That's a good and simple tweak. Retch is not abundant on items -only on artifact lights and a helm, I think. Possibly some other rare items that I haven't seen.Maybe Retch could be tweaked to not harm minions?

Re: Escorts... Lore Master is overpowered. Maybe? Discuss.
Here's the thing about Mind Sear: Unless you have high willpower and unless you get multiple mind sear escorts (1+) when you are pumping willpower, it becomes less and less effective near end game. Especially on higher difficulties. It's a nice filler when you have nothing else to spam, but it will ...

Re: Principles of design.
Yes, that's the problem with Ogre: Writ Large. *But the biggest problem is Shalore: Timeless. This should be reduced to 2 at 5 pts and 1 at 3pts, I think. A 5 turn extention with most skills (such as unstoppable and many others) and prodigies breaks any cooldown balance that the game tries to have. ...

Re: Principles of design.
Since this fits in with the general principles of design, testing, and evolution (balance): What about nerfs? Nerfs can be seen as a positive change towards balance, but are rarely implemented as players tend to favor gains over losses. For example some races really should have some reductions (shal...

Re: Buff antimagic
Antimagic shield can get up to around 120 with ~110 MP and 1.4 modifier. That's out of reach for most builds, but my point is that it can be pretty strong, stronger than most dedicated fighter armor/hardness deductions. There is also the wonder prodigy I've been hearing about -PES(Embers) - and I'd ...

Re: insane roguelike solipsist guide - written by a winner o
Reiterating that this is a very nice fundamentals guide! I've been trying a non anti-magic variation of this with a Halfling on insane. It's working pretty well and I'm steamrolling most things which started ~lvl 35 or so. The hardest part is, as you wrote, the first 20-30 levels. My concept is to m...

As in title. Seems logical that it should.

+1
Also, the cooldown bonus seems to not be -2, but only -1.

Re: [1.4.6 / Embers 1.03] PES + Augmentation exploit
Pain Enhancement System probably should not stack with heroism. I don't have Embers, so the cheese doesn't bother me. But it would if I did - however: ultimately TOME is a single player game and what min/max/race we use are 100% of personal taste and play style. But as a reference to the surprising ...

Re: 1.4.3 Temporal Warden Guide: The hybrid killing machine
Good to see even more build variety, bpat, and nice win! (Shalore power  ) Note the Prodigy Pain Enhancement System is an Embers addition and some may not have it. (I don't). It looks like quite a nice boost, though. Melee set used Spelldrinker which is the best offhand If it drops, it is defi...

Re: First nightmare victory
I'd suggest that oozewalk is not typically going to be there when you need it unless you are saving acid splash- which means you are not proc'ing your slime oozes tactically or using one of your best early damage types. Or until points (namely mucus) and gear are maxed at the end-game. More specific...

Re: First nightmare victory
Oozemancer's great status management. Could you elaborate? I don't recall them having too much defence against multiple physical status...other than a movement infusion and 75% poison/disease/bleed/blindness defence. And the usual gear you can find. That still leaves stuff like stun, cripple, angui...
