Re: Porting ToME2 to the T4 engine
Another error while trying to switch to the worldmap to go find the temple for my 2nd relic quest. This one caused the game to hang on "Generating Level" and I was forced to kill the game via task manager, losing about an hour of progress. [sound F/X: source diving] … *blink* … [sound F/X...

Re: Porting ToME2 to the T4 engine
So in the interest of testing the new stuff, I started up a LostSoul character, and ran into this error: [dumb_talented AI] chooses for 17427 Cherub T_NPC_S_MONSTERS Loading tile npc/werewolf.png Loading tile npc/novice_paladin_grp.png Loading tile npc/paladin.png ##Use Talent Lua Error## T_NPC_S_MO...

Re: Porting ToME2 to the T4 engine
So yeah.. I'm beginning to wonder if something is broken with lost temple quests. Started a new character after the one mentioned above met an untimely end to an ambush on a shallow water tile. This one got his first relic quest during the Thieves quest, upon hitting level 2. When I went looking for...

Re: Porting ToME2 to the T4 engine
Another thing: The character mentioned above DID actually have her first relic quest, but the temple didn't generate. The directions say: "quite some way to the South of Bree and a long way to the northwest of Minas Anor" which in t2 describes a small 4 square wide patch of land west of Mo...

Re: Porting ToME2 to the T4 engine
So a few things from a new game I started up: 1) I remember there being discussion about making some items guaranteed to show up in the stores. Was this ever implemented? If it is, I submit that Scrolls of Identify should be on that list. This idea came up because in my current game there are 0 scro...

Re: Porting ToME2 to the T4 engine
My there's been a lot of progress made on this since I was last here. Was pulled away due to a serious car accident in early 2017 and shortly thereafter the death of my one computer that was new enough to run te4. Looking forward to playing around with everything that's been added over the past 5 ye...

Re: Porting ToME2 to the T4 engine
First off, I'm glad to see this is still actively under development. BTW as a warrior with a chain mail & broad sword (startinggrea) I can't hit anything. Removing the mail helps a lot *scratches head* …Maybe I'm doing to-hit checks wrong? I'll probably have to do some deep debugging on that. I ...

Re: Porting ToME2 to the T4 engine
So, a new bug.. I chose to have no god (selected "Nobody") at creation. Then this happens: The voice of Nobody booms in your head: Sarah, I have a task for thee... And in my quest log: You have been commanded by Nobody to retrieve the pieces of his lost relic. The first piece is in a lost ...

Re: Porting ToME2 to the T4 engine
Now a thought on this. This means we till get to hunt sauron at 30% chances, rather then being FORCED to take on Ar-Pharazon, right? Yes, with my proposed method of handling things there's nothing saying you can't just go straight from DG to Angband and scum level 99 for Sauron at the reduced drop ...

Re: Porting ToME2 to the T4 engine
On the subject of a "winnable" game: * How attached are people to Sauron's habit of only dropping the One Ring 30% of the time, leading to potentially having to kill him multiple times to get the Ring? I always found that vaguely annoying and pointless. Is there a way you could make it co...

Re: Porting ToME2 to the T4 engine
I'd suggest going with what you'd been thinking originally, and start working on getting the code support in place for artifacts. Crim raises a good point, the sooner the game is "winnable" the sooner you might get more testers. With artifacts in place, you could go from there to the code ...

Re: Porting ToME2 to the T4 engine
Oh, a question I meant to ask in the previous post: does anyone regularly take the "adventurer joins your party" reward from the Lost Sword quest? More to the point, would anyone object strongly if I didn't implement it? I always took the skill reward, once I knew it was a thing. (Which a...
